Barbara Foote

Bertha A. Foote died Feb. 13, 2010.

Bertha was born Dec 1, 1911, at Mossyrock, Wash. She graduated from Centralia High School. After high school, she moved to Seattle and attended Business College. She married Jay Foote on May 26, 1932.

After 5 years, they moved to Federal Way. During World War II, she worked as a restaurant waitress. After the war, Jay started a body and fender repair business in Federal Way, and later, they opened Foote’s Intercity Sport Shop in Federal Way, which they operated until they retired in 1969 and moved to Steel Lake.

Bertha volunteered in helping foreign students learn English as a second language. She enjoyed her flowers and participated in many Volkswalks. She moved to Port Angeles in 1996, and was a member of First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by husband, Jay, and and sister Mary. She is survived by sister Betty Sickler of Kent; sons Jack of Port Angeles and David of Denver, Colo.; and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at First Christian Church, 2606 S. Race Street, Port Angeles. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Mountain View Cemetery at 2020 Mt. View Drive, Auburn, WA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Christian Church, 2606 Race Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362, or Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, 540 E. 8th St., Port Angeles, WA 98362.
