Help save Federal Way’s forests on Feb. 20

Since January, Friends of the Hylebos and volunteers have saved more than 200 trees and have cleared more than 50,000 square feet of forest floor from invasive English Ivy. Help continue this ongoing battle against English Ivy’s stranglehold on Federal Way’s forests by volunteering Feb. 20 at Dumas Bay Park. English Ivy is an invasive non-native plant that is taking over our forests. Ivy grows rapidly, forming thick carpets across the forest floor, blanketing trees and other vegetation. Ivy takes away native habitat for wildlife and encourages the presence of unwanted rodents. To volunteer, contact Lili Allala at (253) 874-2005 or lili@hylebos.org.
