Arthur King

Arthur J. King Jr. died Dec. 27 at Auburn Regional Medical Center in Auburn. He was 83.

Born Nov. 12, 1919 in Vashon, he graduated from West Seattle High School in 1938 and the University of Washington in 1942.

He served in the Coast Guard during World War II and was a science teacher for 30 years at Cascade Junior High School, retiring in 1974.

He was a member of the Auburn Elks Lodge, Valley Rose Society, American Orchid Society and the National Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothea; a son, Arthur King III, and a daughter, Pam Wonn, both of Cashmere; a brother, Ralph King of Point No Point, Ariz.; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 4 at Yahn and Son Funeral Home, 55 West Valley Hwy. in Auburn. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
