Industrial Realty Group, LLC (IRG), organized a flag-raising ceremony at Woodbridge Corporate Campus to honor local veterans and celebrate the “significant restoration and preservation plans for the former Weyerhaeuser property,” according to IRG. The event took place on April 24 outside the headquarters building located at 33663 Weyerhaeuser Way S. in Federal Way.

King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell, Deputy Mayor Susan Honda, Greater Federal Way Chamber of Commerce, Auburn Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1741, and the American Legion were in attendance. The Auburn Veterans of Foreign Wars performed the ceremony along with von Reichbauer, Ferrell, and Rebecca Martin with the Federal Way Chamber.

Once raised regularly by Weyerhaeuser executives, the flag was the largest on the West Coast, spanning 35 feet by 50 feet, equivalent to the size of a 1,500-square-foot home, according to IRG. The flag pole is 120 feet tall and was constructed by Weyerhaeuser in Oregon. It features laminated Douglas fir with vertical wood grain and weighs 9,400 pounds.
