Feb. 17
There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Shooting arrest: At 2:18 a.m. in the 33000 block of 19th Lane South, officers responded to reports of a shooting with no injuries. Upon locating the suspect, they fled in a vehicle, and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.
Fire: At 6:19 p.m. in the 1300 block of South 291st Place, the fire department was on scene extinguishing a fire inside a residence. All occupants of the residence evacuated. After speaking with the homeowner, it appeared that the fire possibly started due to a power outage, which caused the gas stove to start the fire. It did not appear that anything suspicious occurred.
Feb. 18
There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
BB gun found: At 10:28 a.m. in the 28000 block of Redondo Way South, officers responded to a report of a firearm found near a creek bed. It was later discovered that the firearm was a Crossman brand Co2 BB gun. The BB gun was booked into police evidence for destruction. No crime.
Students smell like marijuana: At noon at a Federal Way high school, a school resource officer was informed that a student smelled like marijuana. The student was searched, and three buds of marijuana were found. Administration declined police involvement other than the destruction of the found marijuana. The school handled discipline and advised the parent.
Burglary: At 1:39 p.m. in the 1500 block of South 328th Street, a person reported that his apartment was broken into and items were taken.
Feb. 19
There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
Person eludes police: At 12:41 p.m. in the 32000 block of 16th Avenue Southwest, an officer located a vehicle that was believed to have eluded a Washington State Patrol trooper on the freeway. An attempt was made to contact the reporting officer, but was unsuccessful.
Person crashes into a pole: At 3:51 p.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, an officer viewed a driver slumped behind the wheel, and a bottle of wine was in the center console. An officer attempted to wake the driver, and the driver eventually awoke and attempted to drive off before crashing into a light pole. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for driving under the influence.
People found in stolen car: At 6:12 p.m. in the 1200 block of South 320th Street, officers responded to a Flock camera hit for a stolen plate. The vehicle bearing the plate was located and fled an officer’s traffic stop. The vehicle, which was also later confirmed stolen, was abandoned down the road as two occupants fled on foot. The occupants were located by officers. Both were ultimately released.
Burglary: At 9:22 p.m. in the 1800 block of South 312th Street, officers were dispatched to a residential burglary. The suspect fled on foot prior to the officer’s arrival and was not located. The homeowner reported that a power tool was missing.
Feb. 20
There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
License plate stolen: At 12:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Southwest Campus Drive, the owner called to report that his rear license plate was missing from his Subaru. He stated that his wife noticed it was missing that morning when she was at Winco Foods, but the victim stated it could have been stolen overnight because his wife works in Renton. The victim was advised to move his remaining plate and obtain new plates.
Burglary: At 1:49 p.m. in the 33000 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, officers responded to a burglary at a storage unit. About $4,100 in items were stolen. No video footage of the incident was available.
Altercation at elementary: At 1:53 p.m. in the 2400 block of South 300th Street, the victim stated that an unknown male associated with a Nissan had been verbally aggressive to him during child pickup at Wildwood Elementary School. The victim said that the male had been recording him and telling him he should be glad his kids are with him. School security and the principal were alerted.
Encampment disbanded: At 3:59 p.m. in the 30000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was an encampment reported in a wooded area. Officers contacted the encampment and located two large tents occupied by many transient subjects. All subjects were advised to pack and vacate. Resources were offered to the unhoused. A follow-up will be required. A clean-up will be scheduled.
Feb. 21
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Paintball shooting: At 1:07 p.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, a female reported having been fired upon with a paintball from a passing vehicle.
Juvenile found with gun: At 1:40 p.m. on 11th Avenue Southwest, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for suspicion that it was stolen. Upon contacting the occupants of the vehicle, one juvenile occupant had a firearm within immediate possession of him. The occupant was arrested, and others were released to their guardians.
Extortion: At 5:30 p.m. in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers contacted the reporting party, who explained that he believed that he was being extorted for money via text and that the texts had become threatening.
Feb. 22
There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Officer pops a person’s tire: At 2:16 a.m. in the 30000 block of Pacific Highway South, an officer reported that after conducting a traffic stop with a white BMW, the officer forgot to remove the piranha — a police tire deflation device — that was precautionarily placed in front of the driver’s side rear tire. When the involved person was released from the scene, they ran over the piranha, and it punctured the tire. The person was sent an email regarding the process for filing a claim with the city. A private tow truck was requested.
Males fighting: At 12:24 p.m. on South 329th Street, officers responded to a report of two males fighting. Officers located both males. One male had injuries to his face. Probable cause was found for one of the males. The suspect was transported to SCORE jail and booked. The victim refused cooperation and left the scene. CCTV footage was found and uploaded to the case.
Missing firearm: At 2:41 p.m. on 13th Court Southwest, someone reported that a firearm was stolen.
Juveniles assault police: At 7:16 p.m. on Hoyt Road Southwest, officers responded to an assault investigation. During the investigation, two juvenile females assaulted police. Both were arrested and booked.
Feb. 23
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Phone stolen at library: At 3 p.m. on South 320th Street, someone reported that their phone was stolen at the library. It was unable to be located.
Narcotics theft: At 4:46 p.m. in the 28000 block of Military Road South, the victim was waiting on the north side of Safeway for her ride. Two subjects approached her, asking for money, and stole her narcotics medications out of her purse. No leads.
