Feb. 24
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
Caught in the act: At 12:19 a.m. in the 2800 block of South 301st Street, a suspect was observed attempting to pry the door open on the victim’s truck with a hammer, causing damage. The suspect was unsuccessful at making entry, and when the victim confronted the suspect, the suspect left the area on foot with the hammer, but was later taken into custody for third-degree malicious mischief. The male was booked into jail.
Stabbing: At 8:46 a.m. in the 2800 block of South 288th Street, officers were dispatched to an adult male victim who suffered two stab wounds. The victim reported that the incident occurred two hours prior, but refused to give any information about how it happened, and he did not wish to pursue charges. No suspect information.
Damage to pump: At 9:53 p.m. in the 32000 block of Military Road South, the owner of the Mobil gas station reported damage to a gas pump.
Suspicious backpack: At 1:11 p.m. in the 33000 block of Eighth Avenue South, a detective alerted an officer to a suspiciously placed backpack near a building. Due to the officer’s collateral assignment as a bomb technician, they inspected the backpack. It did not contain any explosive items. The backpack was booked for safekeeping.
Infant’s death: At 12:57 p.m. on Pacific Highway South, officers were dispatched to an infant in CPR in progress. After approximately 20 minutes of efforts to save the baby, resuscitation measures were discontinued, and the baby was pronounced dead. Due to suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, the apartment was secured pending further investigation. Detectives responded and assumed control of the scene. Case remains active.
Person attempts to rob blind person: At 7:04 p.m. in the 30000 block of 14th Avenue South, the victim stated that she is blind and had heard loud noises coming from her neighbor’s unit. The victim went to check on her, and while walking down the hallway, an unknown male grabbed her by the back of the shirt, pulled on it and told her to give him her money. The victim stated that she did not carry cash and managed to get away after about 45 seconds. The victim did not report any injuries. No information about the suspect.
Person drinking: At 8:42 p.m. in the 31200 block of Pacific Highway South, a 911 caller reported that he had been drinking and had gone unconscious somewhere in the general area, and he believed his cellphone and $700 on him were now missing.
Feb. 25
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Tools theft: At 7:53 a.m. in the 33000 block of 45th Way South, someone reported that a window to one of his work vans was broken and about $3,000 worth of tools were stolen. No witnesses or video of the incident were located.
Juvenile’s phone stolen: At 6:17 p.m. in the 31000 block of 23rd Avenue South, a juvenile reported that he left his bag behind the A-Line bus stop shelter with his phone on top, and he later saw it was missing. The phone could not be tracked. The phone was estimated to be valued at $2,000.
Windshield damaged in driveway: At 4:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Southwest 317th Place, the victim stated that he found his car with its windshield shattered. The victim stated that his car was parked in his driveway. He did not know who did it or why. He estimated damage at $1,000. No surveillance footage.
Items being thrown at cars: At 12:31 p.m. in the 35000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded regarding someone throwing objects at vehicles, causing the glass sunroof to break on the reporting party’s car. An adult male suspect was located, but officers were unable to establish probable cause. The male was released.
Feb. 26
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
Memory care facility: At 7:59 a.m. in the 31000 block of Ninth Place Southwest, an officer responded to the Mirror Lake Village Memory Care Facility for a reported physical altercation between two female patients. The officer spoke to the patients, and neither had a clear memory of what occurred or whom they argued with. Due to the cognitive decline of both parties and the lack of injuries, the case was closed.
Battery theft from O’Reilly’s: At 9:28 a.m. in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, an employee reported that someone came to buy a vehicle battery and gave an account number, took a battery, and then left without paying. The suspect was described as a skinny white male wearing a surgical mask.
Feb. 27
There were two vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
Stolen vehicle found in driveway: At 3:28 a.m. on Seventh Avenue Southwest, a man reported seeing a person walking in his driveway, then a car was left there. The car was found to be stolen.
Brandishing a firearm: At 2:37 p.m. on Pacific Highway South, a caller reported that someone in a vehicle pointed a handgun at him before driving away.
Feb. 28
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Weapons offense: At 9:14 p.m. on South 320th Street, officers responded to the area after a deputy chief viewed a weapons offense.
March 1
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Concealed pistol license violation: At 2:22 p.m. in the 33600 block of Pacific Highway South, a Mercedes was stopped due to the registered owner having a suspended license. During the stop, probable cause for a CPL violation was found.
Animal problem: At 4:37 p.m. on Southwest 328th Street, officers responded to a report of four loose aggressive dogs. While on scene, the dogs were aggressive toward officers, but a vehicle arrived and secured them. When officers attempted to talk with the people who secured the dogs, they were uncooperative, and officers noticed that the dogs were kept in a wooden crate in the backyard, which appeared to be neglected. The case was forwarded to animal control.
Shoe theft: At 9:50 p.m. on Pacific Highway South, the victim met a man from social media to sell shoes, and the suspect gave the victim an empty envelope and then drove off with the shoes without paying.
March 2
There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Harassment: At 3:53 p.m. on the 900 block of Southwest Campus Drive, the victim’s brother threatened to break into her house and beat up the victim and her husband.
Road rage: At 10:43 p.m. in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, the victim stated that he was driving from Kent to his home in Federal Way when a motorcyclist began banging on his window at a light and trying to get the victim to exit the vehicle. The victim said that he thinks the motorcyclist pulled out a gun, but he couldn’t tell because he began to drive away very quickly.
