The Federal Way Eagles wrestling team can add a tournament title to its trophy case.

The Eagles brought home the championship at the Barry Knott Classic at Nathan Hale High School Saturday. Federal Way won the eight-team tournament with 200 points and also crowned four individual champions. Mariner High School finished second with 168 points and Edmonds-Woodway was third with 158.5 points.

Federal Way’s individual champs included Anthony Pena at 112 pounds, Joseph Coronell at 160, Nevin Hair at 215 and Jessy Leifi at 285. Pena beat teammate Daniel Song in the 112-pound final with a fall just 1:04 into the first round. Coronell won by a 6-4 decision over Liberty’s Shane Small and Hair and Leifi both won by pins. Hair needed 4:29 to pin Mariner’s Michael Mujadin and Leifi pinned Edmonds-Woodway’s George Johanson in 2:41 in the heavyweight division.

The Eagles also had four second-place finishers in Song (112), Tanner Schatz (135), Langley Ngov (145) and Chet O’Reilly (152).

The Decatur Gators finished in second place at the prestigious HammerHead Invitational Saturday at the Kitsap Sun Pavilion in Silverdale. Tahoma won the tournament with 276.5 points and Decatur followed with 171. Jefferson finished in 24th place with 18.5 points.

The Gators’ only individual championship came from sophomore Nick Karis at 160 pounds. Karis beat Mercer Island’s Elliot Wittenberg in the title match, 13-0.

Jefferson also got an individual title from Zeke Nistrian at 152 pounds. He beat Mercer Island’s Blake Johnson, 6-3, in the final.

Decatur also got a second-place finish from Rowland Gaydosh at 171 pounds and fourth-place finishes from Trysten Dawson at 103, Tyler Phelps at 112 and Kyle Gleed at 285. Jefferson’s KW Williams finished fifth at 189 pounds.
