Thomas Jefferson outlasts Beamer 3-2 in tennis

Thomas Jefferson High School’s boys tennis team scratched out a hard-fought win over Todd Beamer on Sept. 11, toppling the Titans 3-2 in an SPSL 4A league match.

Thomas Jefferson High School’s boys tennis team scratched out a hard-fought win over Todd Beamer on Sept. 11, toppling the Titans 3-2 in an SPSL 4A league match.

Number two singles player Justin Park came from behind to give the Raiders the decisive point in the match. Park lost the first set to Andy Lee, 1-6, before battling back 6-3, 6-4.

Number one singles Cameron Martin handled Charlie Wong easily, breezing to the win 6-1, 6-2. THe top doubles team of Alex Chan and Donavon Gomez defeated Max Dalyrmple and Jake Kim 6-2, 6-3. It was the number two and three doubles spots that the Titans saw their wins, with Ben Arata and Zach Nunez taking out Michael Zicarelli and Boris Baura 4+6, 6+1, 7-5. Bradley Hoefel and Kevin Lee, in the number three spot, defeated Thomas Jefferson’s Joseph Park and Baran Baura, 6-2, 6-3.

THe win improves the Raiders to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in league play. They have a busy week coming up, with a trip to Puyallup on Wednesday, before heading home to host Federal Way on Thursday.
