Prep sports wrap up: Titan wrestlers down Curtis; TJ gymnasts remain unbeaten

The Todd Beamer Titans picked up another impressive South Puget Sound League Central Division win Wednesday night over the Curtis Vikings. The 50-24 victory improves the Titans to 3-1 in the division.

Beamer continued its season-long domination of the middle weights against Curtis. The Titans won five-straight matches from 112 to 135 pounds Wednesday night, including a 1:12 pin by Tre Uson at 112. Beamer also got pins from Tom Bowman at 145, Kristoph Rickets at 189 and Brandon Barcelona at 285 pounds. The Titans picked up decision victories from Deshar House at 135, 11-8, and Ben Draeger at 160, 8-3.

The Decatur Gators dropped a non-league dual meet against the Auburn Trojans Thursday night, 39-33. The Gators are unbeaten in the SPSL Central Division.

The difference Thursday night was a pair of forfeits by Decatur. The Gators gave up a total of 12 team points by not wrestling matches at 171 and 285 pounds.

The Gators picked up pins from Nick Lindholm at 112 pounds, Tyler Phelps at 125, Nick Karis at 145, Rowland Gaydosh at 152 and Dylan Aparis at 160. Decatur also got a decision win from Jerry Doran at 135.

The Gators wrestle their final SPSL Central Division match Wednesday night when they take on the Thomas Jefferson Raiders. A win would guarantee Decatur the Central Division title.

Gymnastics

• The Thomas Jefferson Raiders remained unbeaten on the season with a sweep of Kentlake, Federal Way and Capital Wednesday night. The Raiders (13-0) tallied 162.65 points to outdistance second-place Kentlake (158.0).

Jefferson got another impressive performance from Madi Kellar, who easily won the all-around competition with 36.4 total points. Katie Steckler from Kentlake finished second with 35.1.

Kellar also won individual titles on the uneven parallel bars with a score of 8.65 and the balance beam, also with an 8.65. She also finished second on the vault with a score of 8.8.

Kellar’s teammate, Shelby Church finished third on the bars (8.4) and was second on the floor exercise (9.3).

The Raiders will travel to Decatur on Wednesday for their final meet of the season against Federal Way, Beamer and the Gators in the All-City Meet. The meet will kick off at 7 p.m.
