The Mirror’s All-City Softball Team for 2013
P — Madison Rogers, Beamer
The sophomore was dominant all season long on the mound and at the plate for the Titans, who finished 23-9 on the year and finished in eighth place at the state tournament.
On the mound, the right-hander finished with all of Beamer’s wins this season and had an earned-run average of just 2.26 in 204 1/3 innings. Rogers also finished with a school record 301 strikeouts. Opponents hit just .199 against her and she threw a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts during a 9-0 win over Curtis on April 22.
At the plate, the first-team, All-South Puget Sound League South Division selection hit .302 with 26 RBIs, seven doubles, three triples and two home runs.
C — Halle Colson, Beamer
The Titans’ catcher was the only senior on the roster to see any type of significant playing time this season. Colson was a big-time run producer for Beamer and led the Titans to their first-ever state tournament berth. She finished the year hitting .294 with a team-best four home runs. She also had 20 RBIs, five doubles and five triples. Her best game of the season came during a 12-0 win over Bethel on April 17. During that game, Colson finished 3 for 3 with two home runs and six RBIs. She also homered in the Titans’ opening-round win at the state tournament against Bothell.
IF — Megan Jewett-Chan, Beamer
The first-team, All-SPSL South Division shortstop was impressive for the Titans this season. The junior hit .398 with a team-best 33 RBIs, 10 doubles and six triples. Jewett-Chan also scored 31 runs and connected on three home runs. She had 11 multi-RBI games, including four RBIs during the state tournament.
IF — Reno Whitcomb, Jefferson
The senior was the Raiders’ lone first-team, All-SPSL North Division selection after a solid all-around season. Whitcomb, who played at three state tournaments, led TJ to a 13-11 record. Whitcomb finished 1 for 1 with a home run in the final game of her high school career on May 14 during a 6-5 win over Kennedy Catholic.
IF — Brittany Leggett, Jefferson
The freshman first baseman was a second-team, All-SPSL North selection by the league’s coaches and led the Raiders to a third-place finish in league play with a 10-6 record. Leggett finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs during a win over Auburn Riverside on March 22.
IF — Annalise Campbell, Jefferson
The junior third baseman was a second-team, All-SPSL North selection by the league coaches. Campbell’s best game may have come against the SPSL North-champion Tahoma Bears on April 23. She finished 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs during the 7-6 loss to Tahoma.
IF — Kelsey McDonnell, Beamer
The sophomore makes her second appearance on The Mirror’s All-City Team after hitting .340 with 26 runs, 17 RBIs and two doubles. McDonnell was a second-team, All-SPSL South selection and had 10 stolen bases. She was 3 for 5 with two runs and two doubles during the Titans’ final game of the season at the state tournament, a 9-8 loss to Newport.
OF — Maddy Colson, Beamer
The sophomore was a second-team, All-SPSL South Division selection by the league’s coaches after she hit .392 with two home runs. Colson also had three triples, two doubles and 13 RBIs while scoring 27 runs. Colson also finished with 13 stolen bases and had a home run in the Titans’ opening-round, state-tournament victory over Bothell.
OF — Jourdin Hering, Beamer
The freshman and daughter of head coach Brian Hering had an impressive debut season for the Titans. The speedy centerfielder finished with a .271 batting average, but scored 32 runs with 19 RBIs. Hering also led the team with 14 stolen bases and had three doubles and five triples. She was a second-team, All-SPSL South selection.
OF — Kyleigh Carbon, Jefferson
The freshman had a solid offensive year for TJ and was a second-team, All-SPSL North selection as an outfielder. Two of Carbon’s best games came on back-to-back days on April 1 and 2. During the two games, Carbon finished 5 for 7 with two home runs and seven RBIs.
OF — Analee Scott, Beamer
The sophomore had a huge season for the Titans. The outfielder was a first-team, All-SPSL South selection after leading Beamer in hitting with an eye-popping .461 batting average. Scott also finished with 47 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, one home run and scored a team-best 33 runs. She also had 19 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.
Scott’s best game might have come in the Titans’ season-opening 18-12 win over Issaquah. She finished 3 for 3 with four RBIs, a double, a home run and two runs.
Utility — Bailey Rundle, Jefferson
The junior had another impressive season for the Raiders. Rundle had several multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 day with three RBIs during a big 7-6 win over Kentridge on March 27. She was also 3 for 3 with two RBIs during a loss to Mount Rainier on April 26. Rundle was a second-team, All-SPSL South selection as a designated player.
