Baseball: TJ, Beamer get back on track with victories

The Thomas Jefferson Raiders got back on track with a 6-5 win over Auburn Friday. The Raiders (11-6 overall, 8-6 SPSL North) had lost four of their last five entering the game. Austin Campbell threw a complete game, allowing just five hits and striking out six.

Offensively, TJ was led by Travis Quakenbush, who finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

The Todd Beamer Titans (7-10 overall, 5-9 SPSL South) dominated the Bethel Braves Friday, 14-4, in five innings. The win was the Titans’ first five games.

Beamer got big days at the plate from Jeff Apigo, Travis Crumb and Mac Gridley. Apigo finished 2 for 4 with two runs, two RBIs and two doubles, Crumb was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Gridley was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a double. Kenny Johnson got the win on the mound.

The Graham-Kapowsin Eagles tallied six runs in the top of the first inning Thursday and beat Decatur, 9-1. The Gators’ (3-13 overall, 3-10 SPSL South) Zach Jacobs finished 1 for 3 with Decatur’s only run.
