It’s official, Federal Way teenager J.R. Celski has made his first United States Senior short track speedskating World Cup team. Celski finished in third-place overall at Sunday’s American Cup I Short Track Competition in Minneapolis.

The 18-year-old will be joined on the World Cup team by former Federal Way resident Apolo Anton Ohno, Jeff Simon, Anthony Lobello, Travis Joyner and Charles Ryan Leville. The U.S. team presently lives and trains in Salt Lake City.

Celski was invited to train with the national team in April, however he was still enrolled in his senior year at Lakewood High School in Southern California.
