Shooting incident prompts lock down of Federal Way High School

A shooting incident between two brothers caused a lock down of Federal Way High School earlier this morning. The lock down has been lifted and police are continuing their investigation.

According to the Federal Way Police Department (FWPD), a 911 call was received at approximately 7:30 a.m. today, in which the caller told dispatchers that he had just shot his brother. The incident took place in a private residence in the 31000 block of 10th Ave S.

FWPD indicates that the 911 caller, a 61-year-old Federal Way resident, shot his 52-year-old brother. According to police, the victim sustained one gunshot wound to his abdomen, and was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was an escalation of a physical confrontation between the two brothers, according to FWPD. Officers and detectives are conducting further investigations, and FWPD indicated they will provide further updates as they come to light.
