Mariners manager stops in for Boys and Girls Club breakfast

The Federal Way and Auburn Boys and Girls Club, in conjunction with the EX3 Teen Center, were recently treated to a visit by Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon, during the annual “Breakfast for Kids” fundraiser. The event was held at Emerald Downs, and was able to raise nearly $70,000 for South King County Programs.

According to the office of King County Councilman Pete von Reichbauer, McClendon “shared his experience at the Boys and Girls club as a youth in Indiana and credited the program for building the foundation of success that has carried him to the top of his profession.”

Von Reichbauer said McClendon’s presence was a definite positive for all in attendance.

“It was a privilege to hear Lloyd speak about the positive impact the Boys and Girls Club had on his life,” said von Reichbauer, who was the honorary chair for the event. “He has a real heart for kids and is invested in not only their success, but the success of programs we offer here in South King County.”
