Man self-inflicts knife wound: At 7:05 a.m. on May 23 in the 29000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers were dispatched to a fire assist call for a transient man with a knife wound to his leg. The man said he “fell on his knife,” which was sticking out of the side of his backpack. The knife, still in the backpack, and the blood at the scene were consistent with the story. The man was transported to St. Francis Hospital.

Bomb threat at middle school: At 12:23 p.m. on May 23 at 1101 S. Dash Point Road, an unknown suspect called in a bomb threat to Sacajawea Middle School. Staff reported that the number displayed on the caller ID was the number that shows when calls are made from inside the school. The reporting party said the voice that made the threat sounded “like it was a recording or a digitized voice.” The school was placed on lock down and officers, with staff, performed a room-by-room search and found nothing suspicious. The school was released from lock down and students returned to class without further incident.

Bag with religious items found: At 3:03 p.m. on May 23 in the 29000 block of 11th Place South, a man reported finding a bag of property. Officers checked the bag, which was filled with religious material, but they could not identify the owner. Police checked with Family Christian Book Store, but staffers there didn’t know the owner or the origin of the material in the bag. The items were entered into evidence and the case was closed.

Vodka reported stolen, owner concerned: At 2:15 p.m. on May 23 in the 2500 block of South 286th Place, a woman called 911 to report a man had taken her bottle of vodka without permission. The woman could not provide additional details, but “her main focus [was] on having them return her vodka.” Officers could not determine if a crime had been committed “since there was no damage to any of [the woman’s] possessions including the door she claimed was damaged.”

Student arrested for assault at high school: At 9:12 a.m. on May 24 at 35999 16th Ave. S., police responded to Todd Beamer High School for a reported assault. After interviews, officers determined the suspect had assaulted the victim during passing period. The student was immediately expelled and assault charges were filed.

Copper stolen from business’s A/C unit: At 9:51 a.m. on May 25 at 1718 S. 288th St., the office manager of Family Dentistry reported copper pipes had been stolen from two air conditioning units at the back of the business. The estimated damage was $2,500. Police have no leads at this time.

Juveniles throw items, spray cleaner at man: At 7:10 p.m. on May 25 in the 3200 block of 16th Court Southwest, a male victim reported that his juvenile neighbors had thrown items at him and had sprayed him with engine cleaner. After investigation, a juvenile was arrested.

Three cited for public drinking: At 8:06 a.m. on May 27 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers observed three suspects drinking liquor from an open container in public. All three were cited and released.

Live ammunition found at complex: At 7:54 a.m. on May 27 in the 1000 block of South 344th Street, a business employee called 911 after discovering live ammunition (three bullets). The witness placed the casings in a plastic bag before police arrived, after which he said he’d confronted numerous transients sleeping at and “hanging around” the complex on multiple previous occasions. Officers at the scene found two additional bullets “strewn among the debris” in the parking lot and a nearby picnic table used by employees for breaks.

Workers find buried gun: At 11:34 p.m. on May 27 at 2000 S. 314th St., construction workers digging at the former Target site reported finding “a gun lodged deep in the dirt.” Officers entered the weapon in to evidence to check for possible connections to crime.

Intoxicated driver found after bumping tree, sleeping: At 6:17 a.m. on May 28 in the 34000 block of Hoyt Road Southwest, police responded to reports of a man slumped over the wheel of a vehicle that had drifted into a tree. Investigating officers found two vehicle occupants. The driver was detained for suspicion of driving under the influence; the passenger, whom officers saw with a concealed weapon, was found to not have a concealed weapon permit and was likewise detained.

Son throws eggs at mom: At 11:23 a.m. on May 28 in the 800 block of Southwest Dash Point Road, officers responded to reports of a domestic dispute. A woman there said she had been arguing with her teenage son, who has autism, because the latter had placed eggs on a pad in the kitchen. When the woman confronted the son, he became angry and threw eggs at her. Officers noted that the woman had eggs on her, but she said she wasn’t injured and had pushed her son away when he’d “got in her face.” The woman noted that her son’s behavior problems had been escalating in recent months. The son was interviewed by police, but he was “defiant” and denied any wrongdoing. Officers advised both of them to contact the King County Youth At-Risk program through the juvenile courts.

Intoxicated man committed: At 3:12 a.m. on May 29 in the 16000 block of South 359th Street, police found a male subject lying on the street and throwing up on himself. The subject could not speak, could not sit up, did not acknowledge he was being spoken to, and could not stop vomiting. The subject’s girlfriend called and said he was intoxicated on alcohol and marijuana and that he had called her to state he was “trying to fight everyone” and had driven to the residence before being unaware of his surroundings. The man was involuntarily committed.

Dog feces dispute ends with feces smeared: At 7:00 p.m. on May 29 in the 2000 block of Southwest 352nd Street, a man reported that his downstairs neighbor had smeared dog feces on the door to his apartment. The man said his own dog would relieve himself on the man’s back patio, causing feces to drop to his downstairs neighbor’s back patio. When contacted, the neighbor admitted to smearing to feces on the door and apologized, saying “it was an overreaction” to the man’s dog’s waste falling onto his patio. The man’s door was undamaged and no crime was observed.
