Federal Way police arrested a 30-year-old man after a low-speed chase early Saturday morning.

Federal Way police arrested a 30-year-old man after a low-speed chase early Saturday morning.

At 12:12 a.m., a Federal Way police officer working a DUI emphasis pulled over a man who was towing a utility trailer carrying toilets, a fridge and other appliances. The man drove 35 mph until reaching the 33200 block of 35th Avenue Southwest, then traveled down the hill toward Southwest 329th Street.

Officers deployed spike strips at the intersection of Southwest 329th Street and 35th Avenue Southwest. The suspect’s vehicle hit the spikes, deflating five of its six tires, then collided with two parked cars, pushing one of them into other parked vehicles.

But the chase continued.

As police followed the vehicle for a half-mile at 15 mph, several appliances fell out of the trailer and littered the streets. They pursued the vehicle until the suspect stopped and fled on foot.

Officers detained the passengers and sent a K9 to track the suspect, who eventually surrendered. No one was injured and the suspect was booked into SCORE jail for eluding police.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
