May 1

There was at least 1 report of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 1 vehicle was recovered.

Passed out with gun: Officers responded to a welfare check around 3:40 a.m. to check on an individual who was unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle that was running. When they located him near the 33300 block of Pacific Highway South, they also located a firearm next to the driver seat.

High risk stop: Officers responded to a fight involving a gun at approximately 1:25 p.m. near the 2400 block of South 312th Street. On the scene, they conducted a high risk traffic stopped and detained multiple involved parties.

May 2

There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 4 vehicles were recovered.

Mailbox robbery: A victim was robbed at gunpoint near their apartment complex’s mailbox at around 12:40 a.m. One suspect pointed the gun at the victim while the other punched the victim in the face. They then stole keys and used them to enter the victim’s vehicle, but exited it when the victim called 911. The suspects fled in their original vehicle. They were described as being between 15-18 years old. The incident occurred near the 900 block of Southwest Campus Drive.

Weapon on campus: After opening a purse turned in by a student that was found in a classroom at Truman, school administrators found a loaded 9mm Taurus pistol inside. The gun has been submitted to AFIS for prints.

Vehicle recovered and arrest made: Officers located a stolen vehicle at a residence known for being a hot spot for stolen goods located near the 30100 block of 2nd Place South. While recovering the vehicle, a warrant subject exited the residence and was arrested. The subject also had suspected methamphetamine on his person.

Large fight: Officers responded to reports of a large fight involving a metal pipe at approximately 1 p.m. near the 35700 block of 16th Avenue South.

May 3

There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 3 vehicles were recovered.

Midnight gunshots: Police were dispatched to a non-injury shooting around midnight. Investigation revealed that three suspects were seen discharging firearms out of a black sedan near the 1200 block of South 320th Street. At least two vehicles and a nearby apartment were hit by the bullets.

Overdose victim saved: At around 3:30 a.m., an officer was flagged down during a routine patrol by an individual doing chest compressions on an unconscious male. The person had already received one dose of Narcan when the officer arrived, and after a second dose from the officer, the overdose victim regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital by South King Fire.

Upset by open hours: At around 4:57 a.m., an individual became upset due to a business’s doors being locked. The business is located near the 29600 block of Pacific Highway South. The subject grabbed a nearby rock, throwing it through the window and breaking the outer pane. Another individual called 911 to report the incident and the subject fled on a bicycle.

May 4

There were at least 4 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 1 vehicle was recovered.

Woman groped: Officers responded to a welfare check around 4 a.m. because of a woman was heard screaming. Officers arrived and the victim stated that a subject from whom she had received a ride had groped her. The subject is unknown to the victim.

Assault: Officers responded to an assault in progress at approximately 1:30 a.m. at a local restaurant.

Basketball game fight: Officers responded to a fight at approximately 2:45 p.m. Upon arrival they developed probable cause for Assault 4 for a coach against a referee at a basketball game at the Boys and Girls Club.

Hit and run: A witness called to report that at approximately 6:40 p.m., they witnessed a vehicle crash into a street sign and a neighbor’s fence, then flee. Officers located the suspect.

May 5

There were at least 3 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 1 vehicle was recovered.

K9 locates burglar: Police responded to a commercial alarm at approximately 3 a.m. They heard power tools in the background of the alarm and began setting up containment upon arrival. An individual exited the building, but ran back inside after seeing the officers, and was later located by a K9 search as they cleared the building.

TSA uniforms stolen: Sometime in the last four months, a victim’s storage unit was broken into and multiple items were taken, including uniforms for a job at TSA. The storage unit is located near the 34200 block of 16th Avenue South.

May 6

There was at least 1 report of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 2 vehicles were recovered.

Work tools stolen: An estimated $8,000 worth of work tools were stolen out of a work vehicle at approximately 3:30 a.m. The vehicle was located near the 900 block of Southwest 347th Place.

Uber driver scammed by customer: After requesting a ride and then canceling it, a suspect called the Uber driver back pretending to be customer support. The suspect demanded ID verification and the driver’s debit card. The phone number of the suspect has been identified and a name associated with that number has been found.

Fire: An officer saw a large fire at approximately 7:30 p.m. at an encampment near the 1700 block of South 336th Street. After the fire was contained, a male was arrested for reckless burning in the 2nd degree.

May 7

There were at least 3 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 7 vehicles were recovered.

Bystander saves life: Officers responded to a CPR in progress at approximately 10:25 p.m. near the 31800 block of Pacific Highway South. After administering Narcan and continuing CPR, the individual began to breathe on their own again. South King Fire took over and transported the individual to the hospital.

Single tire stolen: In an online report, an individual shared that around 6 a.m., they were getting ready to walk their dog when they noticed something about their vehicle looked different. Upon inspection they realized that their driver side rear tire was missing.
