The South Sound Golden Games, hosted by the city’s Senior Recreation Program along with surrounding senior centers, were held Nov. 2 at the Federal Way Community Center. The first-year event featured games including Wii Bowling, billiards, ping pong, pickleball, black jack, bean bag baseball, ladder golf, spelling bee, Sudoku, jigsaw puzzle, horse racing, wet T-shirt contest (throwing a soaking wet T-shirt for distance) and swimming.

More than 70 participants registered from nine different centers, including Federal Way, Auburn, Maple Valley, Enumclaw, Tukwila, Burien, Puyallup, Renton and SeaTac. Each participant paid a $10 registration fee, which included a T-shirt, lunch and access to all events. Catholic Community Services sponsored the lunch and Humana sponsored the T-shirts.

A closing ceremony with awards and ice cream bars concluded the Golden Games.
