May 1: Community Resource Fair: Access resources from free clothes to free cellphones, youth support and programs, employment information, job resources and more at this monthly free event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Family Life Center located at 32275 32nd Ave. S. in Federal Way.
May 1: Storm Large: Described as a “a musical force of nature — part rock goddess, part cabaret siren, and all powerhouse performer.” See her live at 7:30 p.m. at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.
May 2: I’m Hooked Kids Fishing Event: In partnership with the I’m Hooked Inc. and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, spend the day outdoors starting at 7 a.m. (rain or shine), engage in angler education, fishing, and health and wellness activities. Community mentors will help guide your child and family in the art of fishing, nature, health, and wellness and instill a love and passion to enjoy for years to come.
May 2: Celebrate Centerstage 2026: On May 2, join Centerstage Theatre for an evening celebrating the accomplishments of the past year and discovering what is in store for the future. The evening will include live entertainment and more. Visit centerstagetheatre.com.
May 2: Federal Way Cars and Coffee: Meet up with other car enthusiasts of all kinds from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a relaxed Saturday morning meet up. Bring your ride, grab a coffee and connect with the local car community at 201 Browns Point Blvd. in Federal Way.
May 2: Free Comic Book Day and Spring Craft Market: Meet local artists, select free comics, take advantage of deep discounts, shop hand-crafted goods from local vendors and even meet Spider Man, all from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Midgard Comics, Games & More located at 1500 S. 336th St. in Federal Way.
May 2: Restorative Yoga Nidra Soundbath, a Workshop: Join Katie Beloved and Katie Bonnett for 2 hours of blissful deep rest and intention-setting through a restorative yoga practice, guided yoga nidra meditation and a therapeutic sound bath at 4 p.m. at Three Trees Yoga located at 204 S. 348th St., Suite 2 in Federal Way.
May 3: Mozart Requiem: Auburn Symphony joins forces with Seattle Pro Musica for a concert of profound beauty and emotional depth at 2 p.m. at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.
May 6: PAEC Presents: Step Afrika! Experience the pulse, power, and pride of stepping with Step Afrika!, the world’s premier ensemble dedicated to this uniquely American dance form. Performing at 7 p.m. at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S. in Federal Way, this event will feature a vibrant fusion of percussive dance, traditional African movement, contemporary choreography, and compelling storytelling.
May 7: FW City Council meeting: Federal Way City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall on the second floor in Council Chambers, 33325 8th Ave. S. in Federal Way.
May 8-16: The Sound of Music: Federal Way High School drama and music departments are performing “The Sound of Music” at the FWHS Theatre, located at 30611 16th Ave. S.
May 9: FW Farmers Market: Federal Way Farmers Market will open in its new location on Saturday, May 9, the day before Mother’s Day. The market runs 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each Saturday through Sept. 26 (no market on July 4). This year’s market will look a bit different in its new home in the city center, where it will fill 316th Street between the Performing Arts and Event Center (PAEC) and Town Square Park, and host approximately 60 vendors in 12’ by 12’ tents.
May 9: Meet author A.L. Hampton: Author A.L. Hampton will be signing books and meeting fans from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Federal Way Barnes & Noble located at 31325 Pacific Highway S. She’ll be signing copies of her spicy, dark paranormal romantasy series, “The Crown of the Seven Realms.”
May 9: Book Sale: The Friends of Federal Way Libraries are hosting a book sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.at the library located at 848 S 320th St. Browse used books, DVDs, CDs and more to raise funds for literacy and self-enrichment programs for adults, teens and children in Federal Way.
May 9: Big Band Concert II: Join the Federal Way Big Band for a second concert of swing, jazz, and big band standards at 7 p.m. at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.
May 9-10: BonsaiFEST!: A 2-day celebration of bonsai,this event recognizes World Bonsai Day on Saturday and Mother’s Day on Sunday at the Pacific Bonsai Museum located at 2515 S. 336th St. in Federal Way. Join in for a family-friendly event featuring hundreds of living works of art, bonsai-making demonstrations, guided tours, games, food trucks, shopping, and more, all with free admission thanks to support from 4Culture.
May 12: Senior Health and Resource Fair: With 85 vendors, this will be the biggest annual senior resource fair yet and will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the PAEC, located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S. This event is hosted by the city and brings together vendors from a wide variety of services and resources geared toward seniors.
May 12: School Board Meeting: Attend the Federal Way Public Schools board meeting at 6 p.m. at Illahee Middle School located at 36001 1st Ave S in Federal Way.
May 13: Hot off the Presses Community Conversations: The Federal Way Mirror invites you to join the staff from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Poverty Bay Café for informal conversation, coffee, beer, wine and appetizers. Attendees can ask the newspaper staff about their work or talk about issues affecting the region, such as homelessness, addiction and development, all while supporting a local business and the work of nonprofit FUSION to serve families in need. Each event features a community speaker on a topic/organization important to the Federal Way community. Poverty Bay Café is located at 1108 S. 322nd Place in Federal Way, north of Celebration Park.
May 13: Free Food Preservation Workshop: Join the City of Federal Way from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for a free food preservation workshop at the FW Community Center, 876 South 333rd Street. Learn about ways to reduce food waste, then prepare two styles of kimchi to take home. All materials provided, no experience necessary.
May 16: The Sounds of Spring – Americana: Join the Federal Way Chorale as they celebrate America’s Semiquincentennial. Over the past 250 years, America has given rise to a rich tapestry of music across every genre. The Chorale will bring to life familiar classics alongside some exciting new favorites. May 16: Blue Poppy Day: The mystical Himalayan blue poppy, Meconopsis, will grace us with its ethereal beauty once again at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden. Come celebrate these fabulous flowers from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the garden, located at 2525 S. 336th St., Federal Way.
May 16: Touch-A-Truck: From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this free family event lets you explore the vehicles and equipment that build, serve, and protect our community, from ambulances and service vehicles to big rigs and tractors in the Wild Waves parking lot located at 36201 Enchanted Pkwy. S. in Federal Way.
May 17: Jazz Police: The contemporary big band celebrates its first 40 years — they swing, they rock, they inspire. Live from 5 to 7 p.m. at Marine View Presbyterian Church, 8469 Eastside Drive NE in Tacoma.
May 18: CTE Scholar Showcase: Are you curious to see what middle and high school scholars are learning about in FWPS CTE courses? Join FWPS at the first CTE Scholar Showcase on from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Todd Beamer High School located at 35999 16th Ave. S. in Federal Way.
May 19: FW City Council meeting: Federal Way City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall on the second floor in Council Chambers, 33325 8th Ave. S. in Federal Way.
May 25: Zain Zohaib: This duo is described as “among the most captivating Qawwali duos of the modern era. Carrying forward the rich Sufi tradition with powerful vocals and contemporary energy, they bring an unforgettable live experience to the stage.” Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. at the FW PAEC.
May 29 to May 31: Arts Explosion: The Federal Way Arts Commission is hosting the 4th Annual “Arts Explosion” Juried Art Show Festival, taking place from May 29 to May 31 at the Performing Arts and Events Center. This festival will celebrate the diversity of Federal Way, showcasing the talents of both adult and youth artists, while promoting artistic growth and community engagement. “Arts Explosion” will feature the display, judging, and sale of artwork in five categories. May 30: Clave Nueva: Armani Night Club will feature live music starting at 9 p.m. at 2012 S. 320th St., Suite 0 in Federal Way.
May 30-31: Spring Showcase: The Sleeping Beauty – Aurora’s Wedding: Adage Ballet Academy proudly presents this new one-act adaptation inspired by the broader fairytale universe of Charles Perrault. Beautifully staged at just over one hour in length, this production is a perfect introduction to ballet, designed for audiences of all ages and will be performed at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.
June 5: Seniors Night Out: From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 5, enjoy an evening of live music, dinner and dancing for those 50 and older at the Federal Way Community Center, located at 876 S 333rd St. in Federal Way. The event will include a pasta dinner provided by Village Green Senior Living and will include dance tutorials by Arthur Murray dance company. Tickets are available at itallhappenshere.org/seniors.

June 13: Juneteenth Celebration: Phenomenal She is partnering with KCLS for the city’s annual Juneteenth celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Federal way King County Library. The event will feature food, retail, health and fitness, entertainment and self care activities and vendors, highlighting Black-owned businesses and organizations.
June 18 through June 21: Friendship Theatre production of Disney’s Frozen Jr: This inclusive theatre program features a talented cast of performers of all abilities bringing the beloved story of Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and friends to life on stage. With memorable songs, colorful characters, and plenty of heart, this family-friendly production is perfect for audiences of all ages. Performed at Knutzen Family Theatre located at 3200 SW Dash Point Rd. in Federal Way.
June 19-21: Kickin’ It Federal Way Festival: A three-day festival celebrating the culture and excitement coming to the Pacific Northwest in 2026. The festival will include a watch party of FIFA World Cup 2026 games, live music, games and activities for families, soccer tournaments and clinics, food vendors, and more. All activities will be free for attendees.
July 4: Red, White ande Blues Festival: Enjoy live music, food vendors, and family fun all day at Celebration Park, located at 1095 S. 324th St. Federal Way. The main stage lights up at 4 p.m. with diverse performers. Don’t miss the fireworks at 10:15 PM. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfort. Admission and parking are free for all.
July 8: Free concert – Po’okela Street Band: From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Steel Lake Park located at 2410 S. 312th St., Federal Way, enjoy island style music that brings vibrant rhythms and feel good vibes to kick off this free summer concert series.
July 15: Free concert – BroHamM: From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Steel Lake Park located at 2410 S. 312th St., Federal Way, enjoy a high energy Motown, Funk, and R&B soul band guaranteed to get you moving in this free summer concert series.

July 29: Free concert – Presenting Hair Nation:From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Steel Lake Park located at 2410 S. 312th St., Federal Way, enjoy an electrifying 1980s rock tribute that closes out July with big hair and even bigger sound.
