The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

Woman strangled by husband: At 6:05 a.m. on April 24 in the 24800 block of 18th Ave. S., a woman called police saying that her husband had strangled her during an assault. The victim had a raspy voice and reported soreness when swallowing. She told police that she could not breathe during the strangulation and thought she was going to die. The suspect was gone when police arrived.

Brothers get into fight: At 9:50 p.m. on April 24 in the 32600 block of 16th Court SW, officers responded to a report of a physical domestic dispute in progress. A 15-year-old boy called police saying that his 16-year-old brother had “beat him up.” Police determined that there were no major injuries and no medical attention was required. The two boys got into an argument over cleaning up the bathroom. The 16-year-old called his brother a “liar” and said that he “was fed up with it.” Each brother had minor scratches on their arms. The situation was documented by police. 

Bleeding woman wanders on street: At 3:14 a.m. on April 23 in the 400 block of S. Dash Point Road, police found a woman who was bleeding and extremely intoxicated walking in the middle of the road. When asked what city she was in, the woman told police she was in Seattle and her Seattle house was right around the corner. Officers noticed that she had trouble standing. Multiple witnesses called 911 and reported that there was a rollover collision in the area and that she was one of the subjects standing near the vehicle after it happened.

Panties raided from store: At 6:41 p.m. on April 23 in the 100 block of SW Campus Drive, an employee called police to report that an unknown suspect stole approximately 50 pairs of panties from their store. The display rack with the undergarments was in a remote area of the store. When the employee passed the rack at 4:30 p.m., everything was in order, but when they passed again an hour and a half later, everything was gone. Employees stated they saw a woman with a large bag enter the store at one point, but they were not sure if she committed the crime. There are no viable suspects at this time. The total loss for the panties was about $625.

Stolen SUV loses control: At 4:14 a.m. on April 22 in the 34200 block of 18th Place S., an officer saw a white SUV speed off the northbound access road near Super Wal-Mart onto S. 344th Street and 16th Avenue S. The vehicle swerved across the center line and back before it swerved one more time out of control. The driver of the vehicle attempted to make a high-speed turn at 18th Place South. The officer followed the vehicle and found it had crashed through a fence.

The driver attempted to get out and run, but the officer shined his light at him and saw he was wearing latex gloves. The officer placed him at gunpoint and called for backup. There was another passenger in the back of the SUV, and both suspects were arrested. The driver stated there was a third accomplice, but the police did not find anyone. It was determined that the vehicle was stolen from Kent. Kent police took custody of the suspects and recovered the stolen vehicle.

Marijuana plants found on side of road: At 10:42 a.m. on April 22 in the 31800 block of Seventh Ave. SW, police were dispatched for a report of marijuana plants dumped on the side of the road. The responding officer found 94 marijuana plants in various stages of growth in potting bags. The plants were seized and placed into evidence for drying and disposal. There are no leads or suspects in this case.

Man brandishes weapon at woman: At 2:33 p.m. on April 22 in the 1700 block of S. Commons, a victim reported that a suspect in a vehicle traveling in the same direction as her was driving erratically and had appeared to brandish a weapon. The woman was on the freeway when the car pulled up near her. She switched lanes and he pulled into the HOV lane and honked at her. She then “gave him the middle finger,” which is when he raised what she thought to be a handgun in a holster. Police pulled the man over near the Commons Mall.

Employee fired after sex offense: At 3:34 p.m on April 22 in the 2400 block of SW 336th St., a juvenile employee of a restaurant filed a report about a former co-worker who attempted to kiss her. She told police the man, who was in his 40s, was always giving her hugs. Between April 1 and 10, the man followed her into a storage area and attempted to kiss her. She told him to stop and he told her he was sorry. She was overheard talking about the event by a supervisor and the male employee was fired. There were no further incidents between the two.

Couple fights in car: At 11:37 p.m. on April 22 in the 34500 block of Pacific Highway S., officers contacted a couple in a vehicle who were arguing. They separated the two. Police found that the verbal dispute had started over the woman showing her breasts to another male, but the male was not present. There were no injuries and the argument was verbal in nature. A domestic violence pamphlet was given to the couple.

Infant ingests meth: At 5:02 a.m. on April 21 in the 35700 block of Second Avenue S., officers responded to St. Francis Hospital after an 11-month old infant was brought to the emergency room. Tests revealed that the infant had ingested meth and opiates. Child Protective Services was contacted prior to police notification of the incident. The infant was transported to Mary Bridge for medical treatment. No removal was requested by CPS and they said they would try to contact the parents within the next day.

Lawnmower thief on the loose: At 9:59 a.m. on April 21 in the 31400 block of 11th Place S., a victim reported that, over the past two days, an unknown suspect stole two lawnmowers and a 12-foot ladder from her yard. The victim did not have serial numbers for the stolen items and was unable to provide suspect information. The victim said that the monetary loss was approximately $600.

Dog loses leg in attack: At 1:26 p.m. on April 21 in the 33000 block of 29th Ave. SW, a pit bull attacked a Yorkshire terrier in its front yard. The attack caused the terrier to lose its leg. The pit bull was declared vicious.

Liquor store employee beat with bottle: At 6:58 p.m. on April 21 in the 2300 block of SW 336th St., a witness called police to report a suspected robbery. When police arrived at the location, they saw a man who was bleeding and clutching a napkin to the side of his head. He declined aid from South King Fire and Rescue. He told police that two men entered the store and took four bottles of liquor and proceeded to exit the store. When he confronted them about paying for the liquor, one of the suspects struck him six or seven times with a bottle until it broke. The victim didn’t remember too much after that but did see the men enter a vehicle. The total value of the liquor taken was about $160. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Man robbed at gunpoint: At 2:04 a.m. on April 20 in the 1200 block of S. 308th St., a victim was walking home when three males confronted him. The suspects demanded his phone then held a handgun to his head and demanded his wallet. The investigation is ongoing.

Car window shot out: At 6:53 a.m. on April 20 in the 34800 block of Pacific Highway S., a woman stated that a vehicle pulled up behind her and the occupants shot at her vehicle, breaking the rear window. It is believed the suspects used an air rifle.

Woman attempts to cash forged check: At 12:35 p.m. on April 19 in the 1900 block of S. 289th St., a bank reported that a female had attempted to cash a forged credit card check for $2,300. The check was confirmed stolen and the female fled before the employee could call 911. The bank employee still had the ID and debit card for the suspect. Attempts to contact the suspect were unsuccessful.

Man robbed during shoe deal: At 10:48 p.m. on April 19 in the 35800 block of 16th Ave. S., a man called police to report that he had been robbed after buying shoes in Renton. The man saw the shoes on Craigslist and began communicating with the seller. The seller to whom he spoke was a woman who told him to come to Crosspointe Apartments. As he walked toward the building she identified, a man with a large knife emerged and demanded the victim’s money. He gave the man $100, and the suspect then took the victim’s phone as well. The victim ran and did not see where the suspect went.

Materials stolen from Town Square Park construction site: At 12:18 p.m. on April 18 in 31600 block of Pete von Reichbauer Way S., an employee reported that a storage shed at Town Square Park had been burglarized. The employee stated that a lever and about 20 feet of copper piping was stolen. The total of the stolen goods is $800, but the staff believes that the damage caused will cost approximately $5,000 in labor and parts. Police planned to review surveillance footage from a nearby Safe City camera.
