The city of Federal Way hosts its annual Parks Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 21, at Celebration Park,

32713 13th Place S.

Volunteers are needed to paint, spread beauty bark, plant flowers, trim and perform other jobs to help clean up the park.

Last year, teams of volunteers worked at Alderbrook, Saghalie, Steel Lake and Celebration parks. This year all efforts will focus on Celebration Park in preparation of the Special Olympics and other big sports tournaments scheduled for the summer.

Volunteers should bring gloves, wear sturdy shoes and clothes that can get dirty.

Tools are available, but extra shovels, gloves clippers and wheelbarrows are needed.
