Mirror staff reports:
“You Can’t Take It With You,” the first play directed by Lois Gorne more than 30 years ago at Federal Way High School, will also be her last play.
The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8-9 at the school’s Little Theater, and features a cast of FWHS graduates from 1981 through 2010. Andy Cameron will return as the character of Grandpa, the same character he played more than 30 years ago as a Federal Way High School student. Cameron himself is now a teacher at FWHS.
The comedy is set in the late 1930s and has become an American classic, not only for the message, but for the wonderful characters portrayed. The one-of-a-kind Sycamore family all follow their dreams, doing what they enjoy in life.
Gorne, a retired teacher, has directed nearly 100 major productions at the school. This will be her last production in the Little Theater, which is scheduled for demolition as construction for the new FWHS begins.
Proceeds from “You Can’t Take it With You” will benefit the FWHS speech and debate team. Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for students. Email fwhsalumniplay@gmail.com.
