Arian Carpio just keeps racking up the wrestling titles. The Todd Beamer High School sophomore added the very prestigious USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals championship to her already-packed trophy collection.

Carpio won the 124-pound title at the national championships, which were held at Oklahoma City University March 29-30.

Carpio dominated the competition in Oklahoma, winning all four of her matches by pin, including a 30-second fall over Texas’ Rebekah Cordova in the final.

Carpio got the national championships started with a 2:30 pin over California’s Daishea Jaime in her opening match. She then beat Texas’ Brianna Holcomb in 5:40 before pinning Indiana’s Courtney Gray in the semifinals in just 30 seconds.

This was Carpio’s second individual national championship at the USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle event in Oklahoma City. She also won the schoolgirl-age title when she was in middle school back in 2011. Carpio beat Emily Newberry from Kansas in the 105-pound weight class.

Carpio has had a nearly impeccable two-year career on the Beamer wrestling team. Her only loss with the Titans came in the 2012 championship match at the Mat Classic state championships inside the Tacoma Dome.

But Carpio got some redemption in February when she won the 112-pound state title, completing a perfect 23-0 season with a pin over Kentridge’s Taylor Lee.

“This is such a relief,” Carpio said after the match. “I have been working for this all year.  I have been working so hard.”

Carpio said that losing the state championship match during her freshman season was the main motivation for her getting back to the Tacoma Dome and winning the elusive state title.

“This is a way different feeling than last year,” Carpio said. “This is one of the best feeling I’ve felt in my life and last year was one of the worst.”

Carpio also added an individual championship at the Napa Valley Classic in Southern California in January. Carpio won the 114-pound bracket, which featured 49 wrestlers.
