Spring baseball and basketball for Federal Way youth

The Federal Way Boys and Girls Club is currently enrolling youth for the 2009 coed spring baseball league and its spring basketball league.

Deadline for registration is April 17.

• The coed baseball program is for kids in kindergarten through seventh grade. First- and second-grade teams will be coach-pitch, third and fourth grades will be half coach-pitch and half kid-pitch, and the fifth- through seventh-grade teams will be all kid-pitch.

Teams are formed from local elementary and middle schools, area and grade. The season runs from April 20 to June 20. Games are played in the surrounding Federal Way area.

The club is also offering a kindergarten clinic for ages 4 to 6, held on Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. The clinic runs from May 9 to June 13.

The fee is $60 for first- through seventh-graders and $55 for the kindergarten clinic, plus a $20 club membership fee.

• The 2009 spring basketball league is divided into boys and girls teams. The boys league consists of fourth and fifth grades, sixth grade, and seventh and eighth grades. The girls league consists of fourth and fifth grades and sixth and seventh grades. The season runs from April 29 to June 20 and games are played at the Boys and Girls Club and EX3. These are games-only leagues. Volunteer coaches can get practice time at local schools. The program is $60 for fourth- and fifth-graders and $65 for sixth- through eighth-graders, plus a $20 Club fee.
