Sports Brief: Orr, Peterson earn All-America soccer honors at Concordia

Concordia University junior defenders Brittany Orr and Jenna Peterson have each been named to the 2010 NSCAA/Performance Subaru Women’s Soccer All-America First-Team.

The pair anchored a Concordia defense that posted 16 shutouts and surrendered only seven goals in the 2010 season to earn the NSCAA first-team recognition.

Orr, a Todd Beamer High School graduate, was also named NAIA first-team All-America and Peterson, a Decatur grad, had been named to the NAIA second-team.

Both Orr and Peterson were honored at the annual All-America Luncheon, held at the Hilton Baltimore Hotel on Saturday as part of the 2011 NSCAA Convention in Maryland.

Orr was also recently named to a 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes list. She is majoring in business.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
