SOCCER: Federal Way pounds Bethel, 14-0; TJ, Beamer, Decatur also win impressively

 

The Federal Way soccer team won by a pair of touchdowns Wednesday over the Bethel Braves at Federal Way Memorial Stadium. The Eagles dominated Bethel, 14-0, to move to 4-1-1 in the South Puget Sound League South Division.

Federal Way had seven different players score during the blowout, including four goals by Odason Pelogi.

The freshman forward scored a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the contest and now has seven total during the season. The Eagles actually led 4-0 just seven minutes into the game.

Federal Way also got a pair of goals from senior defender Nevin Hair, Ethan Tran, Gianluca Vaccarini and Jorge Santana and single goals from Daulton Guevara and Sean Rigney. Colin Kim finished with four assists.

Wednesday’s win came two days after the Eagles suffered their first SPSL South loss to the Emerald Ridge Jaguars Monday. Emerald Ridge (5-0-1) got a pair of first-half goals and cruised to the win.

Jefferson

The Raiders moved to 3-1-1 in the SPSL North with a 7-0 win over Kent-Meridian Tuesday. Jefferson got two goals each from Jimmy Oganga and Chase Hanson and single goals from Karl Finnesson, Glenn Carpenter and Will Simms. John David McClarey earned the shutout in net for TJ.

Beamer

The Todd Beamer Titans remained unbeaten in the South Puget Sound League South Division with an impressive 5-1 win over Puyallup Monday and a 2-0 shutout of Rogers Wednesday.

Monday’s defeat was the first loss by the Vikings this season. The Titans (5-0-2) got on the board early when Ugo Okoli scored just three minutes into the match. Fellow senior Troy Peterson gave Beamer a 2-0 lead at halftime with a goal in the 34th minute on a pass from Kelvin Horne.

Okoli gave the Titans a 3-0 advantage with his second goal of the game in the 47th minute.

Puyallup’s Evan Robicheau got the Vikings on the board with a goal in the 58th minute. Beamer added two late goals by Holden Wade and Horne.

Against Rogers, Peterson and Ike Crook tallied both goals late in the second half to break a 0-0 tie. Nick Bod earned the shutout.

Decatur

The Gators jumped out to a 2-0-0 start in the SPSL 3A Division with a shootout win over Bonney Lake Monday and a 1-0 shutout Wednesday over Enumclaw.

Dominique Dismuke tallied the only goal of the game against Enumclaw and Zach Gippe recorded the shutout in goal for Decatur.

Against Bonney Lake, the Gators opened their SPSL 3A season with a 3-2 shootout win Monday. The game was tied at 2-2 after regulation.

Decatur’s goals came from Spencer Smith in the 29th minute and Jordan Pac scored in the 48th. Dismuke assisted on both goals.

Bonney Lake’s two goals came from James Glavin, including the game-tier in the 74th minute.
