SOCCER: Decatur grad Dom Dismuke will play at the University of Washington

After sitting out the fall season, former Decatur High School scoring machine Dom Dismuke will make his soccer debut for the University of Washington in the spring.

After sitting out the fall season, former Decatur High School scoring machine Dom Dismuke will make his soccer debut for the University of Washington in the spring.

Husky head coach Jamie Clark announced recently that Dismuke will join UW, along with Darwin Jones and Brad Jacobson.

Dismuke will be a freshman on the 2013 team. As a senior at Decatur, the forward was ranked the seventh-best player in the West Region by TopDrawerSoccer.com. Dismuke was a three-time All-South Puget Sound League first-team selection.

“In our opinion, Dom is the best senior forward in the state,” Clark said when Dismuke signed as a Decatur senior. “He has the ability to stretch defenses with his pace, but also has very good feet and has a nose for goal. He is one of the top scorers in the academy league at the half way point in the season and I’m sure he will continue to find the net for the rest of this season and in seasons to come.”

He finished with seven goals and four assists during his senior season at Decatur and tallied 14 goals and five assists as a junior. Dismuke also played with the Seattle Sounders FC Academy program and led the 18-under team in goals with 13 during the 2012 season.

Washington finished the 2012 fall season with a 13-5-2 record and lost to Creighton in the NCAA Tournament’s second round.

The Huskies’ spring schedule, which are all exhibitions, continues on Saturday when they travel to the University of Portland to play a double-header against Oregon State and Portland. Other spring games are April 16 at the Vancouver Whitecaps, April 20 at home against the Kitsap Pumas, April 27 at the Victoria Highlanders and May 3 at home against Seattle Pacific.
