PREP SPORTS WRAP: Federal Way soccer continues season-long roll with 4-0 win over Curtis

The Federal Way Eagles (10-1-1) continued their impressive season with a 4-0 win over Curtis Tuesday night on the soccer field.

Like they have been doing all year, Federal Way used a balanced scoring attack to down the Vikings. The Eagles had four different players tally goals Tuesday, including Luis Sanchez, Sean Rigney, Colin Kim and Garrett Brewer.

Federal Way has 10 players this season who have scored multiple goals. They are led by 11 from Rigney.

Jefferson — The Raiders remained in second place in the SPSL North with a 3-0 win over Auburn Riverside Tuesday. Jefferson (9-2-1) got a pair of goals from Louis Alvaro Osornio and Matthew Cruz chipped in the other score. Luis Pacheco earned the shutout in net.

Decatur — The Gators blew out the Lakes Lancers, 11-1, Tuesday in SPSL 3A action. Decatur (10-3-0) got two goals each from Spencer Smith and Max Henry and single goals from Taylor Weatherly, Moses Griffin, Michael Klavuhn, Ryan Barrantes, Jordan Pac and Bernardo Figueroa. Weatherly also had three assists.

Beamer — The Titans (5-6-2) blew out Bethel Tuesday, 7-1. Beamer got two goals from Kelvin Horne and single goals from Chase Nestor, Jake Gregg, Christian Stafford, John Nalasco and Keaton House.

 

SOFTBALL

Beamer — The Titans (9-4) needed only five innings to beat Federal Way (0-9) Tuesday, 23-0. Beamer tallied 14 runs in the top of the second inning and pounded out 23 hits.

Freshman outfielder Annalee Scott had a humongous offensive game for the Titans. Scott finished 4 for 4 with two home runs and eight RBIs on the day.

Halle Colson finished 3 for 4 with four RBIs and Sami Sunitch was 3 for 3 with two doubles. Madison Rogers picked up the win on the mound, allowing four hits and striking out six.

Jefferson — The Raiders (11-3) continued their solid play with a 6-1 win over Mount Rainier Tuesday. Rocky Hale got the complete-game victory on the mound, striking out three and allowing six hits.

Jefferson tallied four runs in the top of the seventh inning to break open a close game. Michaela Patton finished 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs and Annalise Campbell was 2 for 4 with a run.

 

BASEBALL

Beamer — The Titans (9-6 SPSL South) and senior left-hander Matt Bower dominated Emerald Ridge Wedensday, 10-2. Bower improved to 4-2 and kept his earned-run average under 1.00 by throwing a complete-game and allowing only four hits, while striking out seven and walking one.

Offensively, Beamer got a big day from Daniel Lee, who finished 2 for 3 with three runs and two RBIs. Kepa Sharpe was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and two doubles and Lawyer Braun finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Jefferson — The Raiders (6-9) got a strong pitching performance from Peter Bennett and beat the Auburn Trojans, 5-0, Tuesday. Bennett allowed only four hits during the shut out.

Offensively, Jefferson got three hits from Hunter Henry, who finished with two runs and an RBI. Nathan Baughman was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and a run and Nico Delacruz was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Federal Way — Emerald Ridge dominated the Eagles (6-10) Tuesday during a 7-2 win. The Jaguars collected 11 hits compared to just five by Federal Way. Jeff Lusink suffered the loss on the mound for the Eagles, who scored both of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Decatur — The Gators (3-14) fell behind 7-0 Tuesday to the Enumclaw Hornets and eventually lost 7-2. Brett Johnson collected both of Decatur’s RBIs with a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Johnson finished 3 for 4.

Doubles — Hoefel-Bowman, beat Lang-Park, 7-6(7-2), 1-6, 6-3; Tyson-Kaufman, beat Gabert-Schwyhart, 6-0, 6-2; Tran-Bowman, beat Vongman-Carmelo, 6-0, 6-0.
