Prep sports wrap: Federal Way boys need another comeback to beat Emerald Ridge, Garfield next

For the second game in a row, the fifth-ranked Federal Way Eagles needed a second-half comeback to win a South Puget Sound League South Division opponent.

The Eagles (2-0) trailed 25-21 after the second quarter against Emerald Ridge Tuesday night in Puyallup. But Federal Way outscored the Jaguars 25-13 during the third quarter to pull ahead.

The Eagles were led by the 16 points of freshman DeeShawn Tucker. Senior Jerry Duckworth finished with 14, as did sophomore guard D’Londo Tucker.

Things don’t get any easier for the Eagles. Federal Way will take on the top-ranked Garfield Bulldogs and University of Washington recruit Tony Wroten at 8 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 11) at the Washington Hoop Challenge at Bellevue College.

The game is a rematch of the 2009 Class 4A state championship game, which Federal Way won. It was the program’s first-ever state title.
