PREP SPORTS WRAP: Beamer’s Rogers throws no-hitter in win over Curtis

Madison Rogers added another accomplishment to her already-impressive season at Todd Beamer High School. The sophomore threw a no-hitter for the Titans Monday afternoon during a 9-0 win over the Curtis Vikings in University Place.

Madison Rogers added another accomplishment to her already-impressive season at Todd Beamer High School. The sophomore softball pitcher threw a no-hitter for the Titans Monday afternoon during a 9-0 win over the Curtis Vikings in University Place.

The win improved Beamer to 11-2 on the season and 9-1 in the South Puget Sound League South Division. The Titans scored two runs in the third, two in the fourth and five in the fifth. Beamer finished with 10 hits. Taylor Weimern-Pierce had a triple and two RBIs and freshman Morgan Vance was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

The victory moved Rogers to 10-2 on the season and lowered her earned-run average to below 2.00 with over 100 strikeouts. Rogers is also having an impressive season at the plate for the Titans.

The sophomore is hitting .425 with five doubles, two triples, a home run and 14 RBIs.

It was the second no-hitter by a Beamer sophomore this season against Curtis. Taylor Davis, a 10th-grader on the Titan baseball team, threw a no-hitter against the Vikings earlier in the season.

Jefferson — The Raiders were upended by the Kentlake Falcons Monday, 4-3. Jefferson outhit the Falcons, 10-5, but could only muster the three runs.

Bailey Rundle finished 3 for 4 with a double and RBI and  Kyleigh Carbon ended up with a triple and RBI for TJ.

Decatur — The Gators remained winless with a 22-3 loss to Enumclaw Monday afternoon. The Hornets tallied 12 runs in the bottom of the third inning and seven in the fourth.

Decatur actually led 3-0 after the first inning. The Gators finished with three hits.

Federal Way — The Eagles lost to Graham-Kapowsin in five innings, 11-1, Monday. Federal Way is winless in the SPSL South. Jessica Scanson finished 2 for 3 with a run for the Eagles.

Baseball

Beamer — The Titans (12-7 overall, 10-5 SPSL South) needed extra innings to beat the Curtis Vikings Monday. Beamer broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning with two runs.

The Titans took a 1-0 lead with a run in the second, but Curtis took the lead with two runs in the fourth. Beamer tied it at 2-2 with a single run in the sixth.

Taylor Davis and Scott Sunitsch combined to limit Curtis to just three hits. Davis threw the first seven innings and Sunitsch threw the eighth inning, striking out two.

Offensively, Max Dalrymple finished 1 for 3 with two RBIs and a run and Kepa Sharpe was 2 for 2 with two runs and a double.

Jefferson — The Raiders (8-8 overall, 6-8 SPSL North) tallied five runs in their final two at-bats Monday to nip past Kentlake, 6-5.

Nathan Baughman finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs, a double and a run for TJ and Sean Dolan was 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Caleb Wallen earned the win on the mound by throwing six innings.

Federal Way — The Eagles (1-15 overall, 0-13 SPSL South) remained winless in the SPSL South with a 12-2 loss to Graham-Kapowsin Monday. Federal Way gave up 10 runs in the second inning.

Boys Soccer

Decatur — The Gators were shutout by Bonney Lake Monday on the road, 2-0. Tyler John tallied both goals for the Panthers.
