PREP SPORTS WRAP: Beamer, Decatur baseball pick up big SPSL victories

The Todd Beamer baseball team scored five runs in the final three innings to pull out an 8-4 win over Bethel Tuesday.

Beamer (10-5 overall, 8-3 SPSL South) pitchers Blake Randazzo and Scott Sunitsch combined to allow only four hits. Sunitsch picked up the win after throwing five innings and striking out seven and allowing only one hit.

Offensively, Lawyer Braun finished 3 for 4 with three runs, an RBI with three stolen bases. Jarred Prather was 2 for 3 with two runs, an RBI and a triple and Ben Arata scored a run, had an RBI and a double.

Puyallup (11-1) and Emerald Ridge (10-1) are the only two teams sitting in front of the Titans in the SPSL South standings.

Decatur — The third-place Gators won a home game Tuesday over the Enumclaw Hornets, 6-2. Decatur (12-6 overall, 8-4 SPSL 3A) jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the Hornets.

Chris Carns threw six innings and allowed only one one and three hits, while striking out 11.

Offensively, Brandon Zimmerman and Derik Bontempo both hit home runs for Decatur. Zimmerman finished 3 for 4 with two runs and Bontempo was 2 for 3 with two runs. Isaiah Hatch had a triple and two RBIs.

Jefferson — The Kentridge Chargers scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat TJ Tuesday. The Chargers jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the Raiders tallied seven-straight runs. Kentridge tied the game at 7-7 in the fifth.

Mark Fitzgerald finished 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs and Niko DelaCruz had a double and two RBIs.
