Todd Beamer

• Grade: Sophomore

• Sport: Track and field

• Accomplishment: The middle distance runner won the 800 and 1,600 meter races and was a part of the winning 4×400 relay team in a victory April 9 over Decatur. Kartes followed with a blistering 59.9 to finish second in the 400 at the prestigious Tacoma Invitational meet at the Lincoln Bowl April 11. She also finished third in the 800.

• What’s on your IPOD?: “Everything, including country.”

• What is your favorite class in school?: PE

• What are your hobbies and interests? : “Soccer and running.”

• Something people don’t know about you?: Likes to eat lumpia made by Emma Cortes. Lumpia is like a Filipino egg roll.

DURAN WARD

Todd Beamer

• Grade: Senior

• Sport: Track and field

• Accomplishment: The Beamer senior won the 100 meters during a dual meet victory over Decatur on April 9 and finished third in the 100 at the Tacoma Invitational on April 11. Ward also ended up fourth in the 100 in Tacoma and led the defending state-champion Titan 4×100 relay team to a first-place finish.

• Who is your favorite athlete: Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward

• What is on your IPOD?: “Mozart to rap”

• What is your favorite class?: Math

• Something people don’t know about you?: Ward is a clarinet player, piano player and has a background in the military.

JEFF BRIGHAM

Thomas Jefferson

• Grade: Senior

• Sport: Baseball

• Accomplishment: Brigham handed the Kentwood Conquerors their first loss of the year on April 8 by throwing a five-inning, no-hitter during an 11-0 Jefferson win. The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

• Who is your favorite athlete?: Tim Lincecum, San Francisco Giants’ pitcher

• What’s on your IPOD?: Dean and Gone by T.I.

• What’s your favorite class?: TJTV, taught by Andrew Buchan

• Something people don’t know about you?: “I have a 3.99 grade-point average.”
