The junior leads Decatur football in numerious categories, and has a 3.67 GPA

The Mirror’s male athlete of the week for Sept. 15 is junior Nehemiah Washington of Decatur High School, football.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Marketing.

Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

A: Spending time with loved ones.

Q: Name your Mount Rushmore (Top 4) of Movies?

A: “Maze Runner,” “Spiderman,” “Ride Along,” “Fast and Furious.”

Q: You’re on a long road trip, you stop at a gas station. You get one drink and one snack. What are you choosing?

A: Snickers and water.

Q: Describe your pre-game ritual and your favorite post-game meal.

A: Pre-game: Listen to music. Post-game meal: Pizza.

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

From the sidelines: Nehemiah has been the statistical leader in several categories on both offense and defense. He has scored two touchdowns and added six extra point conversions. On defense, he is the leading tackler with 15, including four tackles for a loss. Nehemiah has also led by example, setting a positive tone in his role of team captain. During the 2023-24 school year, he earned three varsity letter awards. In the classroom, Nehemiah has earned a 3.679 cumulative grade point average.
