The Marine Hills Swim Team is turning into a swimming dynasty. For the second year in a row, the Marlins swam to the All-City championship in the Seattle Summer Swim League (SSSL) Tuesday at the Arbor Heights Swim and Tennis Club in Seattle.

Marine Hills dominated the competition against 16 other teams from around the Puget Sound area. The Marlins won 23 of the 72 races contested Tuesday night and set seven All-City records.

The Marine Hills combined boys and girls team tallied a grand total of 369 points to outdistance second-place Sand Point from Seattle, who tallied 257 points. Federal Way’s other summer swim team, Twin Lakes, finished up in 13th place overall with 84 points.

The All-City championship follows Marine Hills rolling through the regular season unbeaten. It was the second year in a row that the Marlins have completed the impressive double. In 2011, Marine Hills was undefeated during the regular season for the first time in the program’s history and won its first-ever All-City championship.

But this year’s title might have been even more dominant than a season ago. Marine Hills 14-year-old Thomas Anderson finished the All-City meet by setting three individual SSSL records and was also a part of a record-setting relay team.

Anderson won the 13-14-year-old Boys 50-yard freestyle in 21.59, the 13-14 Boys 100 free in 48.50 and the 13-14 Boys 50 backstroke (24.46). He also combined with Robert Hughes, Micah Oh and Cooper Berry to set the 13-14 Boys 200 medley relay record in 1:47.86. Anderson also won the 13-14 100 free in 48.50.

Casey Nguyen won the Boys 50 back in a record-setting time of 28.29 and Mathias Oh won the 15 and over Boys 50 butterfly in 23.53. On the girls’ side, Kenna Ramey set a SSSL record in the 15 and over 50 butterfly in 26.21.

Ramey also won the Girls 15 and over 50 free in 24.33. Kaycee Simpson iwon the Girls 13-14 100 individual medley (1:02.28), Taylor Kabacy won the 9-10 Girls 50 free (29.98), Marcus Condotta won the 9-10 Boys 50 free (29.85) and 50 backstroke (36.14), Jason Nguyen won the 11-12 Boys 50 breaststroke (33.55), Sarah Jacobson won the Girls 8 and under 25 butterfly (16.69), Breanna Ross won the Girls 9-10 25 butterfly (13.54), Casey Nguyen won the Boys 11-12 50 butterfly (27.64),

Other relay winners for Marine Hills came from Taylor Kabacy, Maki Bispham, Emily Nguyen and Haley Jacobson in the 9-10 Girls 100 medley relay in 1:07.38. Kabacy, Bispham, Breanna Ross and Jacobson won the Girls 9-10 200 free relay (2:01.05). Casey Nguyen, Jason Nguyen, Liam Casey and Nicolas Kim won the Boys 11-12 200 medley relay (2:05.80). Kylee Greseth, Victoria Ha, Caitlyn Lo and Mary Vertetis won the 8 and over 100 free relay (1:11.22). Jason Nguyen, Colin Malnory, Casey Nguyen and Nicolas Kim won the Boys 11-12 200 free relay (1:53.01).

The Twin Lakes Penguins picked up three individual race titles during the All-City Meet and two came from Spencer Broden. The 14-year-old won the Boys 13-14 100 individual medley in a time of 56.68 and the 50 breaststroke in 29.86.

Twin Lakes’ other win came from Noah Willers in the Boys 13-14 50 butterfly in a time of 27.11.
