The Thomas Jefferson girls basketball team moved to 2-0 in the South Puget Sound League North Division and 4-0 overall with an impressive 66-56 win over Kent-Meridian Tuesday night.
The Raiders, who trailed 13-8 after the first quarter, got a career-high 32 points from junior guard Hannah Kiyohara and 11 points from Unique Taufa’asau.
Federal Way was outlasted by the No. 4-ranked Kentwood Conquerors Tuesday night, 74-56. The Eagles led Kentwood by a point at halftime, but couldn’t hold it in the second half. Federal Way (2-2) was led by the 23 points and 11 rebounds of sophomore Tyshana Burgess. Kentwood got 22 points from Jessie Genger.
The Decatur Gators (1-4) were beaten by Rogers Tuesday night, 49-35, in Federal Way. Decatur was led by the 13 points of Sarah Quantz.
The Todd Beamer Titans (0-3) lost to Central Kitsap in a non-league game Tuesday, 53-40. The Titans were led by the 14 points of Melissa Canfield and 10 from Lillian Hampton.
The Jefferson and Beamer wrestling teams were beaten by two of the better teams in the state Wednesday. The Raiders lost to Tahoma, 54-18, and the Titans were downed by Graham-Kapowsin, 59-13.
TJ’s wins came from Corey Yeaple at 119 pounds, Bryce Doyea at 125, Zeke Nistrian at 160 and Kyle Williams at 171. Beamer’s victories came from Tre Uson at 103, Trevor Mills at 135 and Tyler Enos at 140.
Beamer swept Emerald Ridge and Sumner Wednesday night with 160.45 points. The Titans got a pair of event wins from Cassie Peterson on the balance beam (9.45) and floor exercise (9.1). Peterson finished third in the all-around with 33.25 points.
Laura Schraeder finished second on the balance beam (9.4) and Jessica Freeborn was third on the vault (8.35).
Swimming
The Todd Beamer Titans dominated the Emerald Ridge Jaguars Tuesday, 127-56, in their first dual meet of the season. The Titans got two individuals wins from Dylan Chase and Shane Clare. Chase won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.34 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.97 and Clare won the 100 butterfly (56.08) and 500 free (5:11.13).
Beamer’s other wins came from Aaron Bower in the 200 free (2:08.34), Tommy Fraychineaud in diving (203.2 points) and Ludomir Wanot in the 100 back (1:12.03).
The Decatur Gators lost to Puyallup Tuesday, 104-83. The Gators got a pair of individual wins from Robert Sobus in the 200 individual medley (2:19.34) and 100 free (56.17).
