FWHS breaks 5-year point drought in the pool

Brandon Lo and Andrew Miller made the finals for the Eagles swim team.

A swimmer from Federal Way High School has reached the podium for the first time since 2018.

This time it wasn’t just one swimmer, but a pair of Eagle swimmers recorded the most points Federal Way has scored since 2014.

Federal Way recorded seven points, placing them 26th out of 36 schools at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center on Feb. 15-17.

Brandon Lo and Andrew Miller both found their way on the podium, somewhere that Federal Way swimmers are fairly unfamiliar with.

Under Head Coach Evangeline Munson who is in her third year, Federal Way has now won the all-city meet in back to back years, and had the most points in state of the four FWPS high schools. Quite the turnaround for a program that seems to be on the up and up.

Andrew Miller placed 12th in the 200 individual medley while Brandon Lo placed 15th in the 50 freestyle.

Todd Beamer High School recorded just a single point in the pool — Ethan Tandio placed 16th in the 100-fly event.

Dean Tucker of Decatur High School swam in the 500-freestyle and placed 14th, recording 3 points for the Gators.
