BOYS SWIMMING: Beamer finishes regular season unbeaten, wins SPSL South title

The Todd Beamer Titans boys swimming and diving team officially wrapped up an undefeated season in the South Puget Sound League South Division with a 118-65 win over Emerald Ridge Thursday in Puyallup.

The win improved the Titans to 5-0 and gave the program its first-ever SPSL South Division championship. Beamer got state-qualifying times from Dylan Chase in the 50-yard freestyle (22.80), Bart Wanot in the 100 butterfly (51.95) and Matt Um in the 100 backstroke (56.86).

The Titans also picked up individual wins from Um in the 200 freestyle (2:06.2), Wanot in the 200 individual medley (2:10.55), Tyler Snyder in diving (140.45 points), Costner McKenzie in the 100 free (52.55) and Cole Um in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.46).

Beamer also won all three relays contested Thursday. Chase, Jade Feigert, Matt Um and Blake Jordan won the 200 medley relay in 1:50.71, McKenzie, Ethan Herringshaw, Cole Um and Wanot won the 200 free relay (1:40.27) and Jordan, Matt Um, Andrew Maertins and Wanot won the 400 free relay in 3:53.59.

The swimming and diving postseason will kick off Jan. 29 at the SPSL Meet at Rogers and will continue Feb. 4-5 at the West Central District Meet, also at Rogers High School. The Class 4A State Swimming and Diving Championships will be Feb. 18-19 at the King County Aquatics Center.
