The Decatur Gators boys basketball team picked up an impressive non-league win Monday morning at the annual King Holiday Hoopfest at the University of Washington.

The Gators (9-5 overall) used a strong second half to beat Bothell, 73-64, in the opening game of the six-day festival of basketball at Bank of America Arena. The Decatur-Bothell game tipped at 9:30 a.m.

The Gators were again led by the scoring of guard Jerron Smith. The Portland State-bound senior tallied 17 of his 24 points in the second half to help Decatur come back from a five-point, third-quarter deficit.

The Gators also got a big game from point guard Markus Rawls, who finished with 16 points. Austen Wilson finished with 11 points and had eight rebounds in the first half alone.

Bothell sophomore Zach Lavine, a slashing shooting guard, was also impressive for the Cougars. Levine finished with a game-high 39 points.

The Gators (3-9) jumped out to a 34-26 lead at halftime, but were outscored, 26-17, during the third quarter to take a one-point lead heading into the final eight minutes.

Franklin 61, Federal Way 47

In the second-to-last game of the King Holiday Hoopfest, the Class 3A Quakers handled the Eagles. The game was also at Bank of America Arena at the University of Washington.

Federal Way (6-7) scored only 14 points in the first half and trailed the Quakers by 16 points at halftime, 30-14. Eagle senior guard Jerry Duckworth finished with 22 points and Deshea Bell chipped in 11.

Anddrew Hawkins connected on 8 of 10 field-goal attempts and scored 21 points, and Jalen Flowers added 16 points for the Quakers (8-5).

Franklin was playing without talented junior guard Anrio Adams, who recently transferred to a prep school in Connecticut.
