The second-ranked Curtis Vikings took the early advantage in the South Puget Sound League South Division championship race Tuesday with a 55-39 win over Federal Way in University Place.

The Vikings outscored the Eagles 27-12 in the first half and got 22 points from Washington State-bound DaVonte Lacy. Federal Way (2-2) was led by the 19 points of Jerry Duckworth and nine from Napa Mefi.

Beamer (2-3) won its second SPSL South game Tuesday over Graham-Kapowsin, 72-61. The Titans got 20 points each from Thomas Rhodes and Anthony Moore, and 10 points from Mac Gridley. The Titans outscored Graham-Kapowsin 25-7 in the second quarter.

Girls basketball

The Decatur Gators outscored Jefferson 18-11 in the fourth quarter to get the non-league win Tuesday night at Decatur, 42-36.

The Gators (2-2) were led by 13 points from Alexis Cole and nine points from Takiya Flowers. Jefferson (3-2) got 11 points from Christy Kullberg and eight from Jada Piper.

Top-ranked Federal Way blew away Curtis on Tuesday, 87-26, to remain unbeaten. The Eagles got double-digit points from five players and were led by 21 from Darah Huertas-Vining. Ty Burgess finished with 20, Dyesha Bellhumeur had 15, and Raven Benton and Talia Walton both finished with 11.

Beamer (3-2) got a solid win Tuesday over Graham-Kapowsin, 52-31. The Titans rolled out to a 27-8 lead at halftime and were led by the 14 points of Shyla Akins. Meghan Graf chipped in 13 points for Beamer.
