BASEBALL: Beamer’s Davis throws Titans to a 3-1 victory over Federal Way; Decatur also wins

Sophomore Taylor Davis just keeps racking up wins and complete games for the Todd Beamer baseball team. The right-hander moved to 4-0 on the year with a 3-1 win over Federal Way Monday afternoon.

Davis allowed just four hits in seven innings of work and the Eagles’ only run was unearned.

On the season, Davis has thrown 33 1/3 innings and has a 1.47 earned-run average. Opponents are hitting just .183 and he has 36 strikeouts. In his last three starts, Davis has thrown 20 1/3 innings and allowed only six hits, including a no-hitter against Curtis on April 1.

Against Federal Way, the Eagles (1-12 overall, 0-10 SPSL South) took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the second. But the Titans (9-5 overall, 7-3 SPSL South) tied the game with a single run in the bottom of the inning and added two more in the third. Beamer finished with eight hits.

Drew Hoefel ended up 2 for 3 with an RBI and Ben Arata finished 2 for 3 with a run. Andrew McBride and Kepa Sharpe both had an RBI for the Titans.

Eduardo Paraza finished 2 for 3 for Federal Way and Rylan Cratsenberg picked up the loss on the mound.

Decatur — The Gators broke a three-game losing streak Monday with a 5-4 win over Bonney Lake. Decatur (10-6 overall, 6-4 SPSL 3A) took a 5-0 lead, but the Panthers tallied all four of their runs in the sixth and seventh innings to tighten the game.

Janson Junk earned the victory on the mound for the Gators. Junk threw six innings and allowed only one earned run, while striking out six. Taylor Havilcek picked up the save.

Kyle Robbins led the way offensively with a home run and scored two runs.
