Athlete of the week: Eryn Murphy

ERYN MURPHY

Todd Beamer High School

• Grade: Senior

• Sport: Girls swimming

• Accomplishment: The senior had a solid Class 4A State Girls Swimming and Diving meet inside the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center Saturday. Murphy anchored the Titans’ state championship 200-yard freestyle relay team and Beamer’s third-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Individually, she finished in fifth place in the 50 free and in sixth place in the 100 free. The Titans placed fourth in the team standings.

• Favorite athlete?: Swimmers Jason Lezac or Ryan Lochte

• What is on your iPod?: “At state, I played a lot of Fort Minor — 100% Reason to Remember the Name and Kevin Rudolf — Let it Rock. But I love listening to anything with a good beat.”

• What is your favorite class?: Advanced Placement Biology

• Something people don’t know about you?: “I would love to have a pet pig.”

• Sport: Girls swimming

• Accomplishment: The threesome combined with Murphy to win the state championship in the 200 free relay. Kim also finished fourth in the 100 backstroke and fifth in the 200 individual medley.

AMBER CRATSENBERG

Jefferson

• Sport: Girls swimming

• Accomplishment: The freshman finished second in the 50 free at the state meet in a time of 23.78 and fourth in the 100 free in 51.83.

BRILEY BOGGS

Decatur

• Sport: Girls swimming

• Accomplishment: The senior finished third in the 100 butterfly at the state meet and was ninth in the 50 free.

FEDERAL WAY FOOTBALL TEAM

• Accomplishment: Despite losing to No. 1-ranked Skyline, 49-6, the Eagles made the 16-team Class 4A State Tournament for the first time since 1976.
