Lain and Kelsey Van Ogle proved again why they are two of the best BMX riders in the nation. The Federal Way residents recently won the ABA 2009 Disney Cup championships for their age classes.

The ABA Disney Cup, a three-day challenge, took place over Halloween weekend in Orlando, Fla.

Lain Van Ogle placed third during competition on Friday, first on Saturday and second on Sunday. His point total was good enough to win the championship.

Lain Van Ogle is a freshman at Thomas Jefferson High School who is enrolled in pre-IB classes. He is a three-time BMX world champion and has won numerous national and state championships. He has attended the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calf., twice this year and plans to return in December for another training camp.

Kelsey Van Ogle is a sixth-grader at Sacajawea Middle School who is enrolled in the Cambridge Program and plays select soccer for the Federal Way Reign ‘97 Purple team. She is a two-time BMX world champion and has numerous national and state championships. The pair’s next race will be in Tulsa, Okla., during Thanksgiving for national titles.

• The Todd Beamer High School cheerleading program is hosting a Tiny Titan Cheer Clinic from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Nov. 20 at Todd Beamer High School.

The program will teach jumps, motion technique and cheer and dance. It’s for children through fifth grade and there will be a special performance for parents at 8:15 p.m. The cost is $35 per child. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.eteamz.com/

• Thomas Jefferson High School graduate Alyssa Kellar is currently diving at the College of Saint Benedict in Minnesota. The 2009 grad recently finished in third place at a dual meet against Minnesota State University Moorhead in the 1-meter event.
