Burglary tools were found in the closet and a hole was being made into the apartment.

Safety tip: Lock your car while pumping gas. There have been multiple reports in the past few weeks of thefts or attempted theft from vehicles while vehicle owners have their backs turned as they are fueling up.

Dec. 6

There were at least 4 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 3 vehicles were recovered.

Residential carjacking: At approximately 5:40 p.m., officers responded to a robbery in progress at a residence located near the 33600 block of 25th Lane Southwest. Officers determined that two suspects had taken a vehicle at gunpoint.

Attempted theft: While a woman was filling her vehicle with gas at around 5:50 p.m. at a gas station near the 35100 block of Enchanted Parkway South, an unidentified suspect opened her car door, but exited empty-handed.

Dec. 7

There were at least 2 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 2 vehicles were recovered.

Harassment: After harassing a security guard and throwing trash cans around, a man was reported to the police around midnight near the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South. Officers arrived and the person was chased on foot, but he tripped and fell and was arrested without incident.

Dec. 8

There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 1 vehicle was recovered.

Residential burglary: Returning home to her apartment, a woman noticed damage next to her door lock, then checked the storage closet near her front door and found two people inside. One fled, but the other was located and detained by police. Burglary tools were found in the closet and a hole was being made into the apartment. The entrance was made sometime between midnight and 10 a.m. and occurred near the 30800 block and 18th Avenue South.

Double shoplifting: Just as they finished up processing a shoplifting incident around 9:25 a.m. at the Commons Mall, officers were flagged down by employees for a separate shoplift. The suspects fled in a vehicle, but were detained via traffic stop and one was arrested for a separate felony warrant.

Threats toward grocery workers: Around 11 a.m. at a grocery store near the 32900 block of Pacific Highway South, a male threatened to hurt employees. He was denied access to the restroom and threatened physical violence, but was ultimately trespassed due to the threats.

Sexual assault: At around 1 p.m., a simple assault with sexual motivation occurred near the 1600 block of Southwest Dash Point Road.

Residential burglary: A firearm and other items were stolen in a residential burglary that occurred sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. near the 33400 block of 35th Avenue South.

Dec. 9

There were at least 7 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 1 vehicle was recovered.

Firearm theft: A pistol was stolen from the glove box of a vehicle sometime between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. near the 1100 block of Southwest 332nd Street.

Grocery store employee assaulted: An employee was assaulted by an unknown weapon in the parking lot the business where they are employed around 4:34 p.m. near the 1600 block of Southwest Campus Drive. The victim stated there was a “pop” sound and then a sharp pain resulting in a dime-size welt.

Weapons offense: Around 6:50 p.m. a 911 call reported a bullet striking a victim’s home near the 1800 block of South 312th Street. Another caller later reported their vehicle was struck three times by bullets while driving nearby.

Dec. 10

There were at least 9 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 1 vehicle was recovered.

Hit and run: A hit and run traffic incident resulted in a recovered stolen vehicle sometime after midnight near the 33000 block of Pacific Highway South.

McDonald’s DUI: A driver was arrested for DUI around 1:23 a.m. after crashing in a McDonald’s parking lot. The driver initially appeared unconscious.

Sexual assault: Officers were dispatched around 3:37 a.m. to take sexual assault report by phone that had occurred between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. near the 29100 block of Pacific Highway South.

Off road DUI: After noticing a vehicle had driven off the road around 5:15 a.m., officers found a male driver passed out behind the wheel surrounded by empty alcohol bottles. He was arrested for DUI.

Dec. 11

There was at least 1 report of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 3 vehicles were recovered.

Sex offense and involuntary committal: Between 4:45 a.m. and 6 a.m., a subject exposed himself to an employee and stroked himself in front of her at a laundry business located on Military Road South. The subject was not coherent and defecated himself as well.

Aggressive windshield wiper theft: At approximately 12:30 p.m. near the 29600 block of 18th Avenue South, a man slapped the hood of a victim’s car and ripped off one of her vehicle’s windshield wipers.

School staff accused: Officers received a report of unwanted touching toward a student from a staff member at a high school in Federal Way.

Shoplifting with children: At approximately 6:15 p.m. near the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, three adults were reported to be shoplifting with five children.

Dec. 12

There were at least 3 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 1 vehicle was recovered.

3rd catalytic converter stolen: A reporting party stated in an online report that their catalytic converter was cut from their vehicle while it was in the parking lot at work near the 34500 block of 9th Avenue. They also mentioned that this was the third time in 14 months that this has occurred.
