UPDATE: Suspect charged in Oct. 28 shooting of former supervisor

UPDATE

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Kareem Harris, 27, with second-degree attempted murder Oct. 29.

At around 5:26 a.m. Oct. 28 near 127 S. 340th St., Harris shot Wilbur Gant four times with the intent of killing him, according to court records. Gant and Harris formerly worked together at Milgard Windows in Fife, where Gant was in a supervisory role over Harris until the latter was fired in May for timecard fraud, according to the records.

A statement from Gant was recently used in an unemployment hearing for Harris, according to the same records. The two were involved in a dispute in front of Gant’s home about the statement and Gant’s involvement with Harris’ firing.

Harris threatened the lives of other employees and is likely to commit another violent offense, according to court documents. There is a warrant for his arrest. He has not been located.

Original report:

At 5:30 a.m. Oct. 28 Federal Way police responded to a shooting on S. 340th Place, near the Heritage Condominiums.

A 47-year-old male was shot several times, with at least one bullet striking him in the abdomen, police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said. The victim was conscious when police arrived and identified the shooter as a 28-year-old male.

Police believe the men were parked side-by-side in separate cars when a dispute broke out and led to the shooting, Schrock said. At this time, police are unsure what the dispute was about. The incident is not gang related, Schrock said. Police are operating under the notion that the two men know each other.

“This is not a random incident,” Schrock said.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life threatening injuries. There have been no reported arrests. Police are unsure of the men’s residencies.
