An Evening with Colin Hay (April 21)

Former lead vocalist for the Australian band Men at Work, Colin Hay, is performing live with his acoustic band in Federal Way at 8 p.m. Friday, April 21.

This will be the first time the Grammy Award-winning artist has played the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center stage. This show will be the 13th stop in the West Coast leg of his tour, which started at the beginning of April.

Colin Hay has a prolific career both as the lead singer and principal songwriter of Grammy Award-winning band Men at Work and a solo career that spans over 25 years and 15 albums. This show will feature songs from his entire catalog and latest releases: “Now and the Evermore” and “I Just Don’t Know What to do With Myself,” as well as engaging stories he is known for, and a special rare accompaniment of his acoustic band.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Snacks and drinks are available at the Ellingson Café and Bar for an additional cost.

An Evening with Holly Bowling (May 5)

Celebrated pianist Holly Bowling will perform at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 5.

Federal Way is the first show of Holly’s 2023 tour, followed closely by dates in Oregon. Known for her innovative re-imagining of rock songs from bands like the Grateful Dead and Nine Inch Nails, Holly Bowling leaves every audience spellbound with her own personal touch on these pieces.

Whether behind the piano on a windswept mountainous cliff, at a hallowed venue such as Carnegie Hall, or playing shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the most legendary musicians in history, solo pianist Holly Bowling subverts convention with virtuosic playing, emotional immersion, and a thirst for invention. As her profile rose, she delivered Better Left Unsung only a year later. For this triple LP, she re-arranged iconic moments from the Grateful Dead on her piano. It bowed in the Top 25 of the Billboard Top Classical Albums Chart.

Acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Billboard, Relix, and more, she once again flips the script on her 2020 album and second re-imagining of Grateful Dead staples entitled “Seeking All That’s Still Unsung,” the focus of her 2023 tour.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Snacks and drinks will be available at the Ellingson Café and Bar for an additional cost.

The Electric Light Orchestra Experience Coming to Federal Way (May 13)

Evil Woman, the American ELO, will be taking the stage at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13 for The Electric Light Orchestra Experience.

Evil Woman is known for large multi-media concert celebrations of the music of ELO. Audiences are left spellbound by the flawless musicianship and vocals of Evil Woman’s well-rounded group of 12 musicians. Their style comes through in the fusion of Beatle-esque Pop, classical arrangements where cellos co-exist with guitars, and where classically tinged rock intersects with pop. “Mr. Blue Sky,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” and “Evil Woman” are among a list of over 20 instantly recognizable chart-topping hit songs on the setlist.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Snacks and drinks are available at the Ellingson Café and Bar for an additional cost.
