Tacoma files lawsuit over North Shore development

From staff reports

The City of Tacoma filed a lawsuit Monday against Northshore Investors LLC, which has applied to build an 860-unit residential neighborhood where the North Shore Golf Course now resides on the Northeast Tacoma-Federal Way border.

The development has been a hot topic in Tacoma and Federal Way since it was initially proposed in January 2007. A disagreement between Tacoma and the developers on whether building on the golf course would violate city regulations, especially those pertaining to open space, as laid out in 1979 and 1981, led to the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, the city continues to analyze the developers’ proposal to build on the golf course. An environmental review by the city is still under way.
