This year’s Sweets for Success event, held April 30, raised a total of $16,122. There were 54 silent auction baskets and three live auction baskets. A live auction item with tickets to Disneyland sold for $550. There were 267 people in attendance and student entertainers from middle and high schools performed, including a magician and dance team. Hosted by the Federal Way AmeriCorps team, Sweets for Success raises money to enable secondary students to participate in extracurricular activities such as music, speech and debate, sports, and art. To date, the AmeriCorps team has distributed 959 awards to students in the district.
