Suspicious packages found at Federal Way mail center are determined non-threatening

Federal Way police and a bomb squad responded to a call of two suspicious packages found at 8:21 a.m. Dec. 30 at a bulk mail processing center at 34301 9th Ave. S.

The packages were discovered under a conveyor belt, police spokesman Raymond Bunk said. He was unsure what about the packages caused employees to find them suspicious.

The center was evacuated and a bomb squad undertook a methodical process to determine the boxes were non-explosive and did not contain chemical or biological substances, Bunk said.

Business resumed around noon.
