Federal Way High School students and staff returned to their classrooms safely this afternoon after police responded to a bomb threat at the school.

School officials found a note at approximately 11:15 a.m. in the 100 hall classroom area.

“Someone had written a note in one of the classrooms indicating … a bomb threat,” said Debra Stenberg, spokeswoman for Federal Way Public Schools. She said a certain time passed between when the note was written and when someone discovered it, “but we always have to take [bomb threats] seriously and give them serious consideration.”

Federal Way police evacuated five classrooms near where the note was found and sent students and staff to the library.

Over an hour later, police did not find anything and allowed students and staff to return to the building at 12:25 p.m.
