State Patrol seeks witnesses in rollover crash on SR 18

Washington State Patrol is looking for witnesses to a rollover crash that occurred last weekend in the Federal Way area.

A Toyota Corolla was traveling at a high rate of speed at 12:43 a.m. July 22 on eastbound State Route 18 near Weyerhaeuser Way when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Corolla left the road and struck an embankment just east of Weyerhaeuser Way before rolling over. The crash caused serious injuries to both occupants of the vehicle, according to the state patrol.

The driver was arrested at the scene and is under investigation for vehicular assault. However, no charges have been filed yet, Trooper Chase Van Cleave said.

Van Cleave told The Mirror that excessive speed and alcohol consumption are believed to have been factors in the crash. The state patrol is asking for any witnesses to come forward and help detectives with their investigation, he said.
